Recruiting Question for Stallion

Postby OC Mustang » Tue Dec 13, 2005 2:33 am

I do not have a subscription to Rivals...

Does it mention Kris Garcia and/or Justin Smart, LBs for Marshall Mavericks?

Smart had a recruiter from OSU show up...ran right into him going into the press box. And one of the parents in our section (50 yd line seats, Maverick Stadium) suggested that SMU has shown interest.

I know better than to believe heresay, but is there any scuttlebutt on the Rivals board that would confirm or debunk?

Not to steal Stallion's thunder, but Rivals doesn't list Garcia.

Says Smart is 6-2, 230, 4.6. Lists Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M (no offers listed yet), but we've been interested in him for quite a while.

Did HP make those Marshall kids look like 8th graders or what? Lot people complained that Marshall had a cakewalk schedule this year and it made the team look much better than it was.

yup...you can check my flogging thread in the general forum....

If HP and Marshall would have been duking it out in the parking lot, it would have been considered child abuse.

I dunno about cakewalk schedule. Kilgore isn't a creampuff team; never is. The teams Marshall played in the playoffs were not ranked, as HP's were, but they were the same teams as the year before, with two exceptions...Phflugerville (sp?) Connally instead of Boerne, and HP instead of Ennis. I don't think a team is so fortunate as to see 13 teams in a row that it can beat. I just think HP was that good...frankly, better than the 4A Div II champ...and maybe, just maybe, capable of taking it to SLC this year...but that may be pushing it a little. Wish we could see it. Would be fun game to watch.

I think HP was a) a better team b) executed better in the trenches, where it counts and c) was on their game, whereas Marshall was not (don't get me wrong...HP was clearly the winner...just think that gooseegg was anomaly).

Justin Jones is generally a solid corner...he was the guy that picked off Stafford in the end zone (as I hear it, Stafford unusually tossed up a duck, but Jones has made similar plays before, so I won't take anything away from him).

Smart is my favorite...he is a spirited guy, and almost always composed.
If SMU gets him, we will be glad they did.
