Jason Phillips now at KUJason Phillips was picked up as another WR coach at Kansas.

Re: Jason Phillips now at KUPersonally, I thought he stunk.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KUHe did and Houston fans were happy when we took him from them
Re: Jason Phillips now at KU
He fell into the category of SMU coaches under June who at least seemed to try to recruit and to coach up his players. Although I am skeptical (based upon what I have heard he did to G Dieter), I hope his 2nd chance is a an opportunity to show that he can really coach. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Jason Phillips now at KURemember when Abu floated the idea that hiring Phillips as HC after June retried would be a good idea?

Re: Jason Phillips now at KUterrible while he was at SMU. Just when you didn't think KU could sink any lower. I bet he led the KU coaches to believe he had a recruiting pipeline from Houston. Did he recruit any good receivers to SMU?
Re: Jason Phillips now at KUHe ran good ones away

Home Run hire ![]() Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KUWell...after all, it's Kansas we are talking about. Some things just never change.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KU
Yeah, but everyone (me included) was excited about the hire because he had a strong recruiting rep at Houston and we thought we would have someone who would get us out on the trail. He made good inroads at Lamar for us, but his rep at Houston was that he was not a good coach (why he was chased out), and that was true at SMU as well.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KUJason Phillips was about the only one even trying-not my fault that June Jones has one coach like Klemm or Jason Phillips in charge of recruiting to mask the others sitting on their [deleted]. Compare to Chad Morris where every coach is pulling the rope all over DFW and Texas instead of 2 or 3 recruiters spread too thin. In 2 full recruiting years + 3 weeks of a third, Phillips was lead recruiter for:
Kyran Mitchell Ryheem Malone Jordan Ingram Braylon Hyder Darrell Colbert Shelby Walker James Proche (remember he committed to SMU before June quit) Zelt Minor Darrell Durall Cedric Lancaster Deion Sanders Jarvis Pruitt A.J. "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KU
He was also the coach who was seldom available when recruits reached out to contact him.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KU
Beatty served as WR coach on Sumlin's Aggie staff, surely he got references before he made the hire. I am not saying he is a great coach or that he didn't do some dumb stuff (the apology letter). He joined our staff when almost everyone else had given up or left. With a fresh start and a better leader, maybe he can coach? Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Jason Phillips now at KU
Kyran Mitchell - zero offers Ryheem Malone - zero P5 offers Jordan Ingram - never played a down; transferred out Braylon Hyder - zero offers Darrell Colbert - zero offers Shelby Walker - Michigan State, Boise State, Houston James Proche - multiple P5 offers Zelt Minor - Texas Tech, Houston, Washington State Darius Durall - zero offers Deion Sanders - Houston Jarvis Pruitt - Colorado, Texas State A.J. Justice - UVA, Rice Not exactly the resume of a "home run hire" if you ask me. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Jason Phillips now at KUNope, it sure isn't.
