Although he will never be anything like his father, little Prime Time wasn't a horrible slot receiver and I am interested to see how he does at DB next year. (Hopefully, he didn't inherit his father's tackling skills)

Compare to Chad Morris where every coach is pulling the rope all over DFW and Texas instead of 2 or 3 recruiters spread too thin. In 2 full recruiting years + 3 weeks of a third, Phillips was lead recruiter for:
Kyran Mitchell Ryheem Malone Jordan Ingram Braylon Hyder Darrell Colbert Shelby Walker James Proche (remember he committed to SMU before June quit) Zelt Minor Darrell Durall Cedric Lancaster Deion Sanders Jarvis Pruitt A.J. Justice
Kyran Mitchell - zero offers Ryheem Malone - zero P5 offers Jordan Ingram - never played a down; transferred out Braylon Hyder - zero offers Darrell Colbert - zero offers Shelby Walker - Michigan State, Boise State, Houston James Proche - multiple P5 offers Zelt Minor - Texas Tech, Houston, Washington State Darius Durall - zero offers Deion Sanders - Houston Jarvis Pruitt - Colorado, Texas State A.J. Justice - UVA, Rice
Not exactly the resume of a "home run hire" if you ask me.
....and the 2 highest rated, with the most offers (Walker & Minor) have made zero impact. Bottom line, regardless of everything else, the guy was an a*shole, with an attitude problem, that most of the players didn't even like.
yet the only year that he had a decent QB to throw to his receivers they set all kinds of SMU records. Two receivers with over 100 catches, 2 receivers over 1,000 yards
Jeremy Johnson 112 catches 1112 yards Keenan Molman 67 catches 1037 yards Darius Joseph 103 catches 808 yards
plus at UH his receivers produced among the very best stats in the country over several years. Jason Phillips has got some skins on the wall whether you guys like him or not/ Not surprised he's one of few who got a job. He'll probably help Kansas in recruiting in Greater Houston. I'm sure our coaches are going to go head-to-head several times

I would be genuinely interested to see where I said that. I certainly don't recall it. I did think JP looked like a positive young hire from the outset, and I thought that perhaps JJ/Mumme were going to groom unnamed younger coaches for the future, but that's about it.
I wouldn't count Shelby Walker out ("he made zero impact"). He actually started 7 games and averaged 15.5 ypc. He's skinny and only now has a body to really have a shot at helping
