I'm curious why someone from a different school is posting on our forum when our football teams won't meet for another year. Bored I guess?

Memphis is a GREAT foodie town, just ask Alton Brown. There is something $3.5B in hotel, convention, retail, residential, etc. projects in play presently in the downtown / mid-town core. FedEx Forum and the Grizz is a big deal and a first class experience. Memphis has quite a bit going for it and is in a comeback mode in many respects as we speak. I lived there for years and miss the friends, golf, food and my suburban neighborhood, which Memphis has some nice ones. The crime stinks..the undereducated pop holds them back...Memphis State is an after thought, but the Town is decent, IMHO.

Memphis is an OK city. Dreadful economy and third world level crime and poverty make it very difficult for the city to really elevate itself. That said you could do a lot worse than Memphis.
Back off Warchild seriously.

By virtue of being in Texas both Lubbock and Waco are superior to Memphis. I'd take Memphis over Atlanta, Oakland, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Cleveland. There are worse big cities in the country. But not many.
Back off Warchild seriously.
