lol....like Keith Frazier? Even Larry will make an exception for a kid that has the tools he does on offense. I'm not real smart but last time I checked, the way you win in basketball is to have more points than the other team. There is a premium on guys that can shoot the damn ball and put it in the cylinder. Go ask Kyle Korver.

yeah - like Keith who became one of the best defensive players on our team this year.
So yeah - anyone who is too stupid to figure out defense pressure produces points on the other end is too stupid to play on our team. Even keith figured that out.

Please, he couldn't defend his own shadow his freshman year. If you can't see the progress, I don't know what to tell you. Grandstaff is a freshman.

Defense is 80% effort 10% talent and 10% knowledge. Keith had the talent and through coach learned to apply max Effort and the knowledge he needed to be a great defender. Austin might not have the same raw athletacism but if he gives effort and accepts what Larry and the coaches will teach him he could be a solid defender. His fathers attitude gives pause but the kid's might be better.

Yep. Made a future NBA 1st-rounder look like a walk-on a few weeks ago.

I used to believe it's effort but quite honestly, athleticism is probably 50% of defense. You have to be a hell of an athlete to lock players up and keep them in front of you. At any rate, looks like there may be a market at SMU for a new shooter unfortunately.

Some kids can be great athletes, shoots, score buckets, but they don't have the positional awareness to be good defenders. Not everything is about people "not trying".

I said Keith BECAME a great defender. Of course I saw the change - I was at every game. Keith decided to be great on D. Grandstaff doesn't seem to be the same kind of athlete so not sure he could even do it if he wanted to. You just said yourself its 50% athletic.

I'm pretty sure he'd be good to go this following fall. Not positive though so don't quote me. Pretty sure however.

Hope your right OBF. Did he not get on the court this season? Man, Wilson and possibly his Aussie mate Froling, Semi, McDowell, and Grandstaff would be a really strong class of newcomers,

Did we get an official visit when he was in highschool? I don't think this is his first moody experience.

Nope. Has to sit out a full two semesters ala Semi. He would play sometime in December. But seriously, please no.
