It is a stupid reason but I am not going to bother him about it anymore since he has been upfront about his response. You are right that the people to ask about it are the people who run the poll.

Of course, the best thing is to keep winning to the point where we have 64 1st place votes and 1 unranked. People might notice then.

No need to bother Newman. We want the guy to actually vote for us in the future - and not to p him off too much. We will want his votes next year...

If he didn't like us before, now he really hates us I'm sure. His response is all I needed, good for him for sticking to his guns.

Voters are regularly rotated in and out to keep biases from tainting Y2Y

Also, at this point, his points are meaningless to us. He is worth a max 25, but if he voted in line with our total points it would be worth 10. That's not enough to jump duke.

For the record, 10 to 20 must and fan emails isn't going to even get anyone's attention on this.

one step closer to becoming paul finebaum callers...

save the AP votes for fringe teams that need them to get into the tournament, we've been there before...

just keep winning. literally nothing else matters.

He is allowed to follow his voting philosophy. I don't see harassing AP voters as being at all constructive. It will not change his mind, he will not "cave", and it is likely to irritate him and give him a bad taste about SMU and its fans. Plus, I'm struggling to understand where this theory of a vendetta against SMU has any basis in fact.

His prerogative to vote as he wishes. It would be AP's prerogative to not choose him next year, since he ignores their rules. If on probation teams are eligible, they should be on equal footing. If they are ineligible (i.e. the coaches poll) then that is clearly different.

Not worth chasing, just of interest.

Someone needs to ask him if he ever gets cold up in the moral high ground.

The AP has always included teams on probation. The guy is just a sanctimonious tool. I can't do math. If we disregard his ballot do we move up? If so, then we should publish a "Legitmate AP Poll limited to writers who follow the rules. After all, not following the rules is the reason he ignores us.

Redirect all your energy devoted to this to recruiting at least 5 loud SMU supporters to bring with you to Moody on Thursday.

We'll all be singing a different tune at the end of the season when 24 points keeps us from being #1.
