Clean up crew "baned'?Kid in first row drops his drink. Refs stop game. Our players clean it up.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?Clean up crew did not have a chance.
The team was covering that spill like a full court press. Towels from every direction. I thought it was responsive and sweet to help the little guy. House crew never showed. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?While it made for a funny clip with the players cleaning up and the kid making funny faces, this problem -- it's not the first time a spill has stopped the game -- annoys the hell at of me.
While I appreciate the contribution to concession sales, those seats really should not allow drinks other than bottled water, and should not allow popcorn. This has been a repeated problem, and frankly just makes the court look trashy. We know those with high dollar courtside seats come with admittance to the Miller Club with drinks and food pre-game, half-time, and post-game. I think mom, dad, and the kids can fill up before the game, hold out for half time or post game to quench that nagging thirst and hunger. Anyway, where were our guys with the sweat mop running over there? Everyone just stared at the huge puddle until the players -- THE PLAYERS -- ran over to clean up. Should not be that way.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?
I have always hated courtside seats in basketball. There is no reason fans need to be as close to the court as the reserve players. You have things like this, the lady who got run over by Lebron a couple weeks ago, increased risk of injury to players, etc.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?If this really annoys the hell out of you, you may need to reassess your life. Chill out a bit. Stuff happens.
Seriously how much of a problem has this been? I don't recall any other time, and I have been to every game. Was great free pub. Our team looked uber nice, and the kid was funny. If they need to change anything, maybe take those YP signs out from under the front row chairs, since it forces the drinks in front of them instead of under the chairs. And nobody will ever use the yellow pages again ever anyway.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?Yet her yelling at referees all freaking game is ok in her book
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?From 25 rows up where it doesn't matter since they cant hear it.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?It's a good thing no one came off the bench to clean up the spill - would have lead to immediate ejection.
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?Bahahaha . . . Good luck telling David Miller, Paul Loyd, or one of the other alumni that shells out to sit there that their grandkid can't have a coke or their wife can't have a half-keg of Chardonnay. There are waiters for the floor seats to help justify the cost.
Agreed on the YP. I have aisle, so I can still get around it, but they are terribly annoying. On the other hand, Dear Yellow Pages, Thank you for being a fine sponsor of SMU athletics and supporting our basketball team. Keep doing what you do. Next year, let's discuss some other fine ways you can support our university's athletics, perhaps some stylish urinal cakes? And good point Smitty. Finally, I sit next to the floor crew. The kid sitting in open seat that walked up later in the video had run over to ball (mop) boy asking him to clean it up, but he didn't understand what was going on. There was confusion between the ref, ball boy, and kid explaining what happened because it occurred in a blind spot on other side of basket from where ball boy sits. By the time they figured it out, players were running over with towels. "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"
"That poor kid has to be wondering what is dad doing." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XknLDwj0dSo

I didn't realize that's what yp stood for actually. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Clean up crew "baned'?After sitting on the floor for a couple of years I would suggest at $6,000 a seat that drink holders could be installed.
It wouldn't eliminate the problem but it certainly would help and be convenient. Behind the seats
Re: Clean up crew
If you actually pay attention, I don't yell at the referees all game. I don't yell at the refs just because the call goes against us. I do it maybe 3-5 times a game.
