You know I still think the best plan for this type of situation and since rivalries don't matter anymore, we might think of a relegation system somewhat like the English Premier League. Each year the worst three teams are relegated to the lower division and the best three are promoted. In the CFB context, that could be as follows. The champions of the MWC, MAC, CUSA AAC and SunBelt are promoted to a concomitant conference and the worst team in the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, PAC -12 and SEC are relegated to the linked conference. You could link Sunbelt with SEC, CUSA with ACC, American with Big XII. MAC with Big Ten, and MWC with Pac 12. For most of these schools it would be a one year promotion probably. But that way, it forces schools like Kansas, Indiana, UVA, Maryland and Washington State to avoid being a perennial doormat. Or perhaps it would be every three years teams with the fewest wins in each conference over that period get relegated and the teams with the most wins get promoted. That way its a 3 year relegation.

Norm and Donnie just had a Big 12 expansion segment. Both agreed one of the two added will be Houston. They spent a little time talking about SMU. Norm said ultimately the biggest thing that will hold SMU back is our stadium, and I've always thought the same thing.

The stadium would be upgraded tomorrow if P-5 inclusion depended on it. The emptiness on 6-7 Saturdays a year cannot.
