Yup. Realignment is dead for now.

Thank God too b/c we are nowhere near ready right now.

Everyone holds pat until the ACC grant of rights expires or until Texas goes shopping to the PAC again.

It's dead for another two years or so, or until they media rights deals start to draw closer. Then it picks up all over again.

This. Memphis should still be in CUSA. They were only added to keep the BEAST bball only schools happy.

Memphis is a valuable member of the AAC. Name brand bball, now a "near" Top 25 football team, good attendance, etc...

The plus side of everyone in our conference trying to improve their programs to become attractive to P5 conferences is that we are building what might become a P6 conference

This. We are already in our big 12.

Personally I think the prospects of P4 are much greater than P6

Nothing will change with the P5 until the TV networks and conferences begin to analyze the effect of cord cutters and the outrageously awful existing contracts the networks are in at the moment.

I still say the end of the ACC Grant of Rights in 2024 will signal the next (and likely final) wave of expansion.

The AAC was one of two conferences to vote against the NCAA allowing them to have a championship game with only 10 schools.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

That's really odd considering that's what saved the conference from pillaging Houston and Cinci isn't it? Unless those that voted within the conference as to what the overall vote would be happen to be the schools that want out

This was a vote against expanding conference size. It might be a sign that the P5 teams realize that they aren't going to be able to really whittle the numbers down to a P4. They are giving up that hope. I think they also see that a final 4 playoff in football isn't enough, ,that they aren't going to be able to get ND in a conference. So, with an 8 team playoff, it brings other conferences into the discussion no matter what.

The reason for the AAC vote, in my opinion, is that a ten team conference with a conference championship game will result in a TON of infighting amongst the non-P5 to create a P6 conference. We are moving from a period of transition at the P5 level to a period of transition at the G5 level. The MWC and MAC now have an excuse to cut and pilfer to try and catch up to the AAC.

If our house gets in order, as it appears it will, this is a vote against us as well...best not celebrate our own misfortune at the same time. Those schools are positioned (like TCU, remember?) to make the move at this time, and should not be penalized for proper positioning and planning.

May we find ourselves so fortunate to "hear our fans cry" in the coming days with rulings like these.

Agreed. I figured the AAC would be the #1 conference in favor of Bevo10 staying at 10.
