That's a HUGE assumption. That's like, "in a magical universe where SMU had exactly the same resources and circumstances as Alabama, we'd out perform them."SoCal_Pony wrote:
I have always maintained that if you place Coog High, SMU, Baylor, Tech & TCU in the same conference & if all schools were equally committed to winning, after 6 years SMU & the Coogs combined would consistently outperform Tech, Baylor & the Frogs combined.
Maybe it's true, but it's not a realistic scenario. If nothing else, size of the alumni base is a significant issue for SMU.
There's more to recruiting than the city the school is in.SoCal_Pony wrote: Dallas & Houston are simply far superior to Waco, Lubbock or Cowtown.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

Your Alabama comparison is stupid talk, there is a reason I didn't include UT or A&M in my statement. I'm talking 3 tier 2 schools with no real FB tradition, two of which are located in crap hole locations (Lubbock & Waco).ender3 wrote:That's a HUGE assumption. You say its not realistic, explain how Coog High went to the Cotton Bowl 3 times within their first 8 years of joining the SWC. At the time, Tech which joined the SWC in 1956, had never played in a Cotton Bowl and if I am not mistaken, Baylor, which was an ORIGINAL member of the SWC, never played in the Cotton Bowl Classic until Grant Teaff took them in the 1975.
As for SMU, up until the time we crashed and burned, we had won 11 SWC titles. Baylor, TCU and Tech combined had won 15.
I will agree that our alumni base is a significant issue for SMU, but we have a total enrollment greater than TCU and arguably one of the most successful FB programs over the past 30 years is a small private school located in the largest city in Florida that had an undergraduate population of around 10k.
BTW the Coogs have more students than Tech.

NSS, but being located in the epicenter of HS football is huge.ender3 wrote:There's more to recruiting than the city the school is in.

Arkansas needs another running back and they are recruiting the position hard. This would tell me they do not have a lot of faith in him at that position.

Wonder if coaches are threatening to pull Williams offer now that he's set an official visit to Louisville?
Fuente, now at Virginia Tech, just offered as well.

Re: Decommitment Season Has Begun
we've got guys who actually are higher rated ready to take it if he does. Dae is symbolic of a lot of the alleged "underrated" recruits on our list-he's up to 10 offers including multiple P5 offers although he is rated by Rivals at the very bottom of our recruit list at 5.2. . The bottom of our class is filled with great prospects including Dae, Kadarius Smith 5.3 (multiple P5), Josh Shelmire (multiple P5s), and one of my favorites Jordan Ward. We've never had guys at the bottom of our class get these kinds of P5 offers. But just for you-because all you look at is Rivals 3 stars-Rivals took away another SMU 3 star by downgrading Braxton Webb to a 2 star (despite the fact that he hasn't looked at another school and been rock steady since his commitment) just like they did David Moore (despite 23 offers). I couldn't give a [deleted].
