It may be related to the students on the first row baseline right under Tulane's basket for the 2nd half. I couldn't tell what they were saying, but there was a group of about 10 guys really letting our players have it anytime they went out of bounds trying to save a ball and every time when we would inbound the ball. They seemed pretty relentless.

Yeah there was a play where Markus hit that padding pretty hard and that group pounded on the pads at about the same time. I thought they wete goingbto get T'd up. I'd have sworn one of them came close to smacking Markus.

Yes. I saw that too. Pretty sure that was what upset him.

I was sitting behind the Tulane bench and saw and heard the students screaming at Kennedy and Tolbert. Typical obnoxious student stuff. I think it fired up Markus because he turned into a rebounding machine and made that great block/steal right around when the hazing got bad. Tolbert was also getting a lot of the taunting from the baseline and he started waving his hands to them to keep it up in a mocking way. I thought it inspired him too. When Tolbert acknowledged them, you could tell the students were a little nervous he might go get them - the game was very chippy because I think Tulane's strategy was to hack us until the refs felt like they needed to balance the fouls. It almost worked because those refs were horrendous.

Proud of Markus and Tolbert for channeling the negative energy from the crowd into positive, aggressive play. This group is such a band of brothers. Love how they play as a team and pick each other up when the going gets tough.

All very true. You could see frustration build a little in our guys but it never got out of hand because Tulane wasn't good enough to get any kind of a lead or even a small run. I kept waiting for the spark that would st us off. I'm thought it was going to be Nic's first actual basket but we still stumbled a bit after that. I really do have to credit our defense for keeping it close. It was really brutal under the boards.

Happened to Sterling Brown as well.
