I rewatched some of the Temple game....SMU defense lacked so much speed which yielded big plays in the end deciding the game for temple. I feel good seeing how much speed was brought in. Remember TCU and Clemson defenses were filled with Frosh and younger kids, yet still the talent was evident? Same story here, you will see the team make huge strides. I think they wont give up more than 30ppg in conference (Baylor and possibly TCU may become shootouts so I know 35 plus points will be scored against SMU at least)

Not saying they are going to blow people away but I think they will be improved, even if younger, just due to team speed and more options on DL. I know our LB's have to be better.

The two frosh that were in there last year were the new staffs players, right? Tons of quality depth coming in at lb with ward, carmouche, badejo, spears and Carlisle (if he hasn't been recruited as a safety or redshirting because his 247 profile says 6'2 178)

Carmouche is playing RB and the departure of Line he will probably be there for a while.

I wouldn't be surprised if Carlisle isn't at least 6-3.5-but he is a string bean

We gave up 46.8 ppg in conference last year, no way we shave 16+ ppg off that in just one season. Most of our conference opponents will put up 35 on us without breaking a sweat.

A lot of those scores are skewed due to giving up too many big plays. Temple, Memphis and Navy graduate their QBs btw...

Why? With the addition of the 2015 class offense added 16 ppg last year.

It was only +9.7 ppg in conference games (15.1 ppg to 24.8 ppg).

Simple....

Morris coaching offense, Malone coaching defense. :(

Yeah, I'm sure recruiting almost exclusively offense and redshirting almost all of the defensive players you actually did recruit and playing with June jones players had nothing to do with that. Malone obviously made some rookie mistakes but I think you're being a little too hasty considering what he had to work with. Had defense been recruited heavily instead of offense youd be saying the same of morris as you are of malone. There are a couple of good players but the cupboard was pretty bare coming in. Surely you've seen that over the past 20 games.

His son plays defense and he is grumpy about Malone. Just ignore it.

Malone inherited a high school caliber defense last year. I expect the defense to be much improved this season, although they will still give up a lot of points being young and inexperienced.
