They out-us'd us. They got points in the paint, hit their threes when they kicked it out, slipped a ton of screens in the first half, grabbed loose balls and hit their free throws. That's what we're supposed to do.

You mean we were better at every category except the two that matter?

Miss 8 free throws, including 1 and 1 and lose by 5. Not good.

Just got home......very disappointing game. Zero energy from the team or the crowd tonight which resulted in a bad loss to an average team.

Crowd, students, mob, team all flat. I was hoping the USF game helped the team get its mojo back. Apparently not.

On TV, when they switched from Marquette/prov game to SMU, it was like all the energy and air was sucked out of the room. Felt small time. bummed.

That was the worst defensive performance I have seen from us iin a long time. Gave up a ton of layups and gave away some really easy buckets early off of turnovers.
The only reason we were close was we killed them on the boards. Shooting was awful, FT awful. They were out shooting us in the 50s to the 30s most of the game and somehow it was still close. Nic's fourth was the dagger.
The lack of energy defensively kind of sucked the life out of the crowd. It's hard to go all out early when everyone on the team is on eggshells about giving up fouls. But that was way too soft.

It felt small time because it was small time. Been a long time since the Bill Self days at Tulsa.

Poor defense and free throws cost us. Tulsa made points in 15 of their last 16 positions. Without defensive stops, winning is impossible.

1st half it was as if the teams had traded uniforms. Tulsa was driving inside for easy baskets and we were taking outside shots.

We also were sloppy with the ball. A lot of 2nd half turnovers cost us. Preview of next year unfortunately in those periods without Nic in the line-up.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
