The MOB sucks, especially the kids that get to sit mid court who have accumulated the most 'points.' The baseline fan sections are a little better, at least I saw them heckling the opposing teams bench. But all around definitely not loud enough during crucial defensive possessions. I blame Will Templeton

There is ZERO leadership in The MOB this year. Never had a MOB Boss step up. They don't know what to do. No impact.

The Mob hasn't been the same since year one in the new Moody.

Because it's full of a bunch of nerds that have nothing better to do on a weeknight in the fall than go to a woman's volleyball game to get mob points. They don't know each other. Easier to start group chants when there is already a large group of friends who attend.

We all know why the mob was better year one. It was filled with "groups of friends" who had no problem getting a little sloshed and talking such good trash that Rick pitino threw a temper tantrum about us "obviously selling alcohol" and he "wasn't sure if it was a religious school". Pastner flailed his arms like a toddler. We probably gave Cronin his aneurysm.

The way it's setup, it'll never be what it was. Oh well. Long live seven nation army. Go ponies. [deleted] Tulsa.

OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!!

People leave 2 mins early at EVERY sporting event EVER. Super Bowl? Yup. Duke BBall? Yup. Mavs? Yup. Cowgirls? Yup. There are some things to complain about (see: MOB) but for everything else, I believe should be filed under Long-winded BS.

So basically you're making excuses for the group of students who were loud in year one? Didn't they have the same opportunity to sit where the "nerds" do? The "nerds" were willing to make a commitment and the other students weren't. Seems obvious where the blame should be placed unless I'm missing something....

Yes that's exactly what I'm doing. Why you may ask? Because guess what, if you've have the option to either go do something fun with a bunch of groups of girls that all live in a large house with each other or watch a stupid volleyball game on a Tuesday night, you're not going to watch some volleyball game. You're just not. It doesn't make you a worse fan, it means you have a social life.

Don't care what group you are, being a part of a big group helps when trying to start chants or talk [deleted]. It don't get why this is so complicated.

Come on. I seriously doubt having to spend 30 minutes a few nights to go to Moody or the soccer field to have your ticket scanned would hurt your social life one bit. It just might be a slight inconvenience. God forbid we make students earn something that is in demand....

Bottom line is it must not be that important to the group of students who get loud, otherwise they would be there. Hell, find a way to beat the system. Have one guy (a pledge) go to these events and get everyone's ticket scanned. Be smart.

I'm just like you in that I would love to have the loudest students at every game but I think it ridiculous to blame the system instead of the students for the minimal requirements needed.

I was surprised also. I think it's a few things: (1) the undefeated season being over, dropping a couple of games with no postseason play takes some of the passion out of it for your "casual fan" (2) MOB issues (3) underestimating Tulsa. (I think the students just expected a party, that we would blow out Tulsa, and were a bit stunned - it only came alive when we played well, but the time to come alive is when we are NOT playing well!!!).

There's only one good solution here:

TRYOUTS!

You could even fill a number of different "positions" and grant seats accordingly.

1) Opposing Coach Heckler
2) Offensive Cheer Starter
3) Defensive Cheer starter
4) Sign Co-ordinator
5) Fashion coordinator
6) Hot chick procurer

I'm sure there are more.

It's about time we took this seriously.

Do Duke Fans really leave games in droves when Duke has the ball and a chance to tie or take the lead with under 2 min to go?

Kind of surprised by that. Am sure our resident Duke Fan experts can weigh in on that one.

I completely agree with that. A student needs to step up and take a leadership roll. I assume the SMU athletic department would encourage that.

I think the realization that we have nothing to play for is starting to set in for the players and fans as alike. When we were unbeaten, at least we had that as motivation. I hate to say that, but I think it's just human nature. I think Jank and LB have done a legendary coaching job this year, considering the horrible circumstances. It sure looks like a ripe time for a team meeting before the Zags arrive because we can still salvage something here. We need to get that magic back. It's been a very bittersweet season, but SMU athletics have always been bittersweet.

I was in attendance and thought the crowd was really subdued. I was part of the problem . I just never got energetic and into it except the late run in the 2nd half.
No excuse. I think Tulsa's ability to score quickly after SMU kept the crowd from getting into a frenzy.
No post season and no undefeated season may be taking a toll on the enthusiasm of the team and the fan base.
