Marshall Newhouse Commits to Frogs

Postby Stallion » Tue Dec 20, 2005 9:52 pm

nobody has said a word about this kid but he has pretty impressive physical ability. Went to an SMU camp, visited SMU and was offered by SMU so apparently we wanted him. Pretty impressive size and quickness at 6-3, 303. Ran a 5.0 at Nike Camp, a 4.9 at A&M camp and a 4.95 at SMU camp. He is from Lake Highlanda and is a distant cousin of Dallas Cowboy Robert Newhouse. Has about 3 relatives who have played in NFL and about 5 who have played Division 1A. Surprised he didn't receive more attention. Claims offers from TCU, SMU and Tulane.

Great get for the Frogs. As stated, kid is extremely athletic and has tremendous size, plus he is just a great kid and comes from a very good family. Anyone within shouting distance of Lake Highlands would have nothing but great things to say about anyone in that family.

No offers from BCS schools?...that won't get him rated very high on Rivals. Sounds like a hell of a player to me...but then I don't represent Rivals so my thoughts are worthless. Oh well...such is life.

Newhouse is a great kid but I am not sure about his abilities. Maybe TCU can turn this kid into a killer but for his size he did not dominate at all in our soft district. Longview made our line look like a bunch of girls. I am more happy for Marshall because he just got a decent education for free.

My nephew Ryan -- a second-team all district 10-5A offensive lineman as a junior by the way -- plays on the same line with Newhouse. We had our Christmas party with the family last night and I made sure that Ryan promised to tell Marshall today what a mistake he has made with this decision! I'd tell him personally, but Newhouse outweighs me by a bit.

So .... any feedback from Marshall?

And how big is your nephew? Hopefully he has the wisdom to come to SMU!

Ryan is 6 ft, 272 lbs. I'll ask him about Marshall when I see him today!

Like my oldest son, Ryan is a secondary SMU fan. Both kids bleed burnt orange, unfortunately. He goes to most games with me though and follows Mustang sports. He might be a good SMU fit, actually. Smart kid with good instincts. Let's see how he does his senior season.

See if you can stretch him a few inches and strap another 20-plus pounds on him!

Sorry, but kid dominated players such as Beal & Chinasa. Don't know how you could say it was a weak district when several of the top DL in the state play there. Against Longview they did not beat Newhouse at all (watch your tape again). Several times he stood Cody Williams up and even pushed him back and Williams did not get a sack on him.

Don't know where you are coming from on any of your comments, but Newhouse had a great season and LHHS went further in the playoffs than they had in quite a while.

Compared to past Lake Highlands districts it is a weak district. We used to play the Plano schools and Allen. BUS remembers playing Plano when it was just 1 High school. I attended every game and disagree with you. Mustang35SMU was at the Longview game and it was like 38-0 at halftime. They beat us like a drum. Marshall is a great kid but with his size and last name why did.nt the Big 12 schools offer?? It is not like they don't know where LH is?. LH beat 4-6 WT White in the playoffs-wooo
Your telling me this is a powerful district??

Let me focus on the positives and we will wait and see on the negatives.

Marshall comes from a great family and his Dad his wonderful. He attends all practices and games. You will never have to worry about him making grades either. The other unkown is how well is was being coached at LH. Maybe TCU can get him in the weight room and refine his mechanics.
