Is there any chance at all we are in contention with this guy?

6'11" avg 22 pts pg, 9 boards and 2.5 blocks.

Local product, can go wherever he wants. With the class we have in here he could be an instant contender. I just wonder if our class has him thinking of playing at home.

Maybe more wishing he was thing that!

We'd take him in a heartbeat but he's not coming here. For the longest I've read it is between Kentucky and Duke.

You shouldn't be out he is the top center in the country and coveted by every basketball school. He is at Desoto HS.

You get him we contend for a national championship. I realize he is offered by the big boys, but he is local and look what we have done. I hope we make a run at him and show him our class with Shake and our Duke transfer. Immediate starter, immediate contender, immediate top 10. Get it done Larry!

BTW there is always a room for a big like him. Probably Kentucky, but if you don't ask you can't get.....

He's not an immediate starter, he's just a highly ranked kid, whose ceiling won't be reached at SMU. He wouldn't stay long enough see Myles Turner. There are reasons we're not hunting that kid, that simple. Even if we were, he has half the motor of Bruno Fernando who is from our backyard in Angola.

Lots of guys are new to the board, so they ask ignorant (meaning they just don't know) questions, especially about recruiting. First, BB and FB recruiting operate within a decidedly different set of parameters. If FB were to start club teams w/ 3P involvement, then you might get close to apples to apples.

Large city kids are virtually all on AAU club teams coached by people other than HS coaches. Since 95% of HS coaches have little financial relevance to today's players, their input and their influence on players is in direct proportion to that financial relevance. That was the primary problem Tubbs faced when he got to SMU. Right man, wrong time - the ship was leaving port to AAUland when he arrived at SMU, so his HS contacts did him no good.

This staff certainly wants to get the best players it can factoring in that the recruit has to have some chance of not killing our APR. Stars often do not reflect the ability of a wunderkind to be an impactful player at the college level. That takes a lot of vetting. So when you see that your school (here, SMU) does not teven try to recruit a particular player thet seems to makes since to you, there is a very high likelihood, there are good and valid why not. And in SMU's case where their may be a hinderance to economic involvement, simply add one more layer of reason why it may be hands off.

LOL! Sorry but you can't have it both ways, he won't be a starter and he won't be there long. It is one or the other!

He IS and immediate starter and better than the other Freshman coming into the program from this class. See his offers.

If I'm not mistaken, Myles Turner pretty much fit Hoop's definition, to wit: not initially a starter and not there long - and yes, local

So you are telling me a legit 6'11" center coming to a team without a center that is also the top center in the country and a 5 star will not start based on our roster? BUT you predict a 4 star PF of some sort will get the nod? Uh Huh.

Sometimes it is better just to remain silent yada yada...........BTW Myles Turner was not a center he shot a ton of 3's in HS. Bring that type player I might agree, but not the legit 5 star top center in the country going to a team without a center. Weighs about 250 already.........Hope you are not getting a law degree on the Hilltop.
