SMU Mustangs

The Mustangs were the final unbeaten team in the country, winning their first 18 games before falling at Temple in late January. Like Louisville, SMU is ineligible for the NCAA tournament this season -- but the Mustangs aren’t in as good a position as the Cardinals. Nic Moore, Jordan Tolbert and Markus Kennedy are all out of eligibility, leaving Larry Brown with a talented but younger group. Juniors Ben Moore and Sterling Brown will take more of a leadership role, and freshman Shake Milton is ready to emerge. Moreover, there are two transfers sitting out: Ben Emelogu (Virginia Tech) and Semi Ojeleye (Duke). Of the incoming recruiting class, look for foreign product Harry Froling to make the biggest impact, but Tom Wilson and Dashawn McDowell will need to step in and replace Moore at the point guard spot.

So does anyone know or care to speculate on whether the NCAA thinks Louisville has done enough relative to their "crime". To me buying prostitutes for your players is about as bad as it gets, and one year does not feel like enough relative to other punishments they have doled out. These folks that think Louisville is finished with their punishment may get a surprise.

Also - they don't seem to be aware about Kapita - so I would say we have reloaded very well. Enough grit at point guard remains a question.

I'm excited about next year's team. I think there is going to be plenty of talent and enough depth to make a run at the NCAA tourney.

I think the NCAA does to UL what they did to Miami when the football team was getting booze, bucks and hookers from boosters. Nothing!

Kind of an odd way to phrase things. Given the talent we have coming back, saying we aren't in as good a position as Louisville sounds about like Larry Ellison saying he isn't in as good a position as Bill Gates. Feels like we're splitting hairs. This team is going to be very good next year even if the 4 frosh don't all immediately come in and contribute right away.

They don't care about Louisville, they have paid a big price already. Oh and Mizzou "has been the most cooperative school ever caught cheating" since they are such great people limited penalties for you!. One more, NC cheats for years in all sports with a completely made up class for athletes to attend and collect their A's and hours, but don't worry they promised they would never do that again. Penalty projection is the loss of 1 scholarship. It was before the new rules and it is the tar heels afterall.

Don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buying prostitutes is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Think the NCAA will look into buying cars or paying players? Or just be glad it is past them so they can find another non P5 to go after.
