I am not sure.

I have written Hart suggesting that they try to convince Nancy Lieberman to take the job. If I recall correctly, she has significant ties to Dallas.

When Rebel10 kept suggesting that the school hire Lieberman I ignored it, because I figured it had to be a joke. Since you appear to be serious, I need to ask you what do you actually know about Nancy Lieberman? Start with why was she fired by the Detroit Shock? What was her involvement in the Coli family lawsuit against SMU? What's her history with our program, and specifically Rhonda?

Of our current assistants, Deneen Parker is the only one I can say with certainty is interested in the job. Also, I've heard that Kelly Bond-White, first assistant at A&M, has expressed some interest.

1) I know she is considered one of the greatest female BB players ever and
2) I know she is a good enough coach that a NBA team has hired her as an Asst Coach.

If she has a history with Rhonda, I am not aware of it.

Lieberman was a great player; however, she is too old. We need a young energetic person who can both recruit and coach.

Got a guy here at Little Rock (UALR) who is very good. Joe Foley. Probably too old for what we would want but to put this little school into the NCAAs several times, including most likely this year is pretty good.

Joe needs a new wig by the way. Looking at his pic on the LR site although he was 2010 2011 and 2015 Sun Belt coach of the year

Total compensation of $250,000 a year

He is not one with whom you would have to worry about your basketball playing daughter becoming infatuated.

Right on both counts, I would never try to say she wasnt one of the best womens players ever. However, that wasnt what I was asking, so lets start over. Did you know the last time she coached a womens team (WNBA's Detroit Shock) she was fired because she was having an affair with her point guard and this led to a mutiny in the locker room? Google the name Anna DeForge. The Detroit Shock later became the Tulsa Shock, and this year will play in Arlington as the Dallas Wings.

Did you know she was involved in a lawsuit against SMU, just a few years ago?

Her relationship with Rhonda goes back to 1979, when they won 2 national titles at Old Dominion. They were teammates and roommates, and when Nancy started playing professionally for the Dallas Diamonds, Rhonda transferred to SMU. This is the part that it surprises me no one remembers, because at the time it was something of a scandal that Rhonda and Nancy were sharing a house with Martina Navritilova. Years later Lieberman wrote about it in her autobiography.
Rhonda and Nancy were the best of friends for more than 20 years, but about 10 years ago the relationship went bad, really bad. I dont know the details, but suddenly Nancy was disparaging our program, publicly and privately, every chance she got. She did alot of TV commentary in those days, and she went from being very supportive of our program to hyper-critical. She bashed us every chance she got. Behind the scenes she was telling recruits not to come here. She was a big name in a high profile position, and she used her position to damage our program.

I dont see any real chance that Nancy would be a candidate here, because the athletic department isnt going to offer a salary that would compete with what she already makes, but I could never support a team coached by someone who has tried so hard to hurt us in the past.

Joe interviewed for the Kansas job a year ago, and when he didnt get it UALR gave him a 50k raise and extended his contract to 2024. I think he is pretty well settled in.

That is what some of us said about Larry Brown. I believe Nancy Lieberman is in the women's basketball hall of fame. It would be good for recruiting to have a hall of fame coach as WBB head coach just like Larry Brown is for MBB. I think SMU should at least speak with her about it.

Gag. Shameless self promoter who would have her hand out to everyone. She would probably run in excess of 25 "camps" per year if SMU would let her and be more focused on putting money in her pocket than running SMU women's basketball.
