Re: Alan ali commitsGood get. The thing about Ali is that he is light on his feet. Floats like a butterfly but stings like a bee.

Re: Alan ali commitsWelcome to the Hilltop, Go Mustangs!!!

SMU is making strides on the way to turning the corner under Chad Morris. After an improved performance on the trail in the 2016 class, the 2017 class looks like more of the same early on, with the Tuesday commitment of Alan Ali marking the first time the Mustangs have gained an ESPN Jr. 300 verbal. Significance of impact: Beating Power 5 programs for prospects in the state of Texas is a rarity for SMU. After winning out for athlete Jordan Carmouche over Illinois and others in February, Chad Morris and staff scored the biggest win on the trail yet with ESPN Jr. 300 tackle Ali. The win for SMU over Nebraska, Iowa State, Virginia and others will serve as a calling card for the Mustangs staff on the road in May and beyond, when working to create momentum on the trail. What he brings: No. 274 Ali has ideal size at 6-foot-5 with the frame to carry more than 300 pounds. As a tackle, he shows good ankle flexibility and knee bend, as well as a quick first and second step. He possesses an impactful initial punch and the ability to finish blocks with a nasty attitude. Is more advanced as a run blocker than in pass protection headed into his senior season. Projects as a right tackle or guard at the next level. Strength of commitment: Ali made a number of unofficial visits, including to Iowa State and Nebraska in the days before committing to SMU. He had the chance to sit down with multiple staffs, build in-person relationships and get a feel for how he would fit in multiple programs before making a decision. That provides SMU with hope that Ali didn’t make a quick decision, but a well-thought out one. Percent chance of the commit holding: 80 percent Biggest threat: Texas A&M. An offer from the Aggies would be a game changer and major hurdle for SMU, as many would expect. For those who fell short, who is next on their board? A number of programs will be evaluating Ali this spring and could change the trajectory of his recruitment, including Texas A&M, TCU and Baylor. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Alan ali commitsLet's hope he remains solid when the big boys come calling...and that he convinces others to join him at SMU...like maybe a stud QB for 2017?
Re: Alan ali commits
Let's stop worrying about the "big" boys coming calling. I doubt CM spends much time worrying about them.
