UNLV lost Krueger because they were paying him $900K and OU offered $2.1M+. That's uncharted territory for UNLV salary-wise, but they now realize it is the going rate for an experienced coach.

Meeting with them. Paper says that they have an alum who is giving a chunk of money to pay Cronin 3 Million a year.

If Cin/UConn were to bolt to the B12, I would be all for UNLV and one other western school (Fresno or SDSU) back filling the AAC.
Would add two historically good BBall programs and locations that are worth traveling to.
Or perhaps AFA would want to join Navy.
Nothing would replace Cin/UConn - but we all know the drill as we have been though it so many times. I am mentally prepared for this to happen.

I'd rather kick the tires on Wichita State and see if Boise is tired of being a dwarf among midgets out west. Bolsters hoops and football.

My bet goes that Cronin stays at Cincy, gets a fat raise and new facilities.

Cronin wouldn't be considering UNLV if he thought there was a shot at UC getting into a P5 conference.
At Cincy, he has to compete for kids and then plays in a tough conference that won't get proper recognition for two more seasons. Right around 20 wins, which isn't enough to land a bigger job.
At UNLV, he goes somewhere he can win 25 games a year, go to the tourney every year, and then grab a big job.
That is why he moves if the money is right.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN Been told by multiple sources Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and UNLV are headed in the direction of a marriage. Talks still ongoing, though.
Looks like it really might happen.

How is it that UNLV can be so rich in one sport (basketball) and so broke in another (football)?
