Re: Any news on the search for a new women's HC?Gotta be a tough job to sell to a top coach because they know they have zero chance to ever win a conference title.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Any news on the search for a new women's HC?
True, for the foreseeable future. However with solid recruiting and coaching, 2nd or 3rd place is achievable. BTW, 2nd or 3rd place will still get you an NCAA tournament invite.

Sounds like the prospective cast for Blazing Saddles 2
Re: Any news on the search for a new women's HC?I'm surprised it's taken this long. It's not like RR announced at the conference tournament she was leaving. They had some notice.

Travis Mays is the new head coach at Southern Methodist university, sources tell Swish Appeal. Mays comes to SMU after being the associate head coach at Texas since 2012. His responsibilities with the Longhorns include recruiting, preparing opponent scouting reports and the position coach for the guards on the team. While Mays has been with Texas, he has helped them to a record of 89-46 overall, including a 40-32 record in conference play. This past season has been the best year for the Longhorns since he has been on staff, as the team went 31-5, and made it to the Elite Eight before falling to the National Champions UConn. Last season they went to the Sweet 16, and in the 2013-14 season he helped them to the second round in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to coming to Texas, Mays was an assistant at Georgia (2011-120, LSU (2007-11), first tenure at Texas (2004-07) and for the San Antonio Silver Stars in the WNBA (2002-04). He graduated from Texas back in 1990 after finishing his college career which began in 1986. From 1991 until 2001, Mays played basketball at the professional level being a part of the Sacramento Kings in 1991, the Atlanta Hawks from 1991-93 and various teams overseas in Europe. In 2002, he was inducted into UT's Men's Athletics Hall of Fame. Mays is Tennessee's first player to earn back-to-back Southwest Conference Player of the Year honors in 1989 and 1990. A press conference to introduce Mays will be at 2:30 CT tomorrow. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
