Todd Graham Already Gets First Commit

Postby Stallion » Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:59 pm

.....from a kid that we have talked about as a possibility for SMU but one who SMU had probably not yet offered. WR Andrew Novak from Ennis. Has great height but average speed-outstanding on field performance. I'm sure they will now go after teammate Clark Harrell too. Both could start from the First Practice in the spread offense that I hear Graham will run because Rice has no receivers or passing QBs.

Well...that sucks. I saw this kid play for Ennis this year. Could be a key element for the Owls' rebuilding program.

Most recent rivals update on Novak that I see is dated Oct. 11. Perhaps it will pop up on the rest of the rivals pages later today.

Amazing how the guy gets hired Saturday or Sunday and during the dead period, gets a commitment from a guy that according to Rivals, wasn't even getting recruited by Rice. stallion, is your boy Graham breaking the rules?

I was curious about that also, how do these guys commit during the dead period? Especially in Todd's case, when prior to Sunday, he was with Tulsa.

not sure if it is accurate or just rumors but there are some loopholes in those rules like the recruit can contact the school. Also, I think I read-which is just a giant loophole-that textmessaging is still allowed during this period. I can't believe it but I have heard it. If that's true it needs to be immediately changed-in fact the entire textmessaging thing needs to roped in. Apparently, many if not all, schools are bombarding recruits with textmessages every day. Oh joys of coaching-textmessaging high school recruits all day. The business gets more nauseating everyday and everytime there are meaningful changes the coaches find ways to override the obvious intent of the NCAA Legislation. If this is true then Rice has taken what might be an insurmountable lead of 1-0 over SMU in the recruitment from the DMN Area Top 100 Team.

That could be fixed pretty easily. Here's how the NCAA legislation should read:

"Coaches or schools are not allowed to contact recruits by any means during this period."

That would do away with having to rewrite the rules everytime a new communication device is introduced.

this commitment is now confirmed by Rivals. Novak jumped at the offer last night since neither Tulsa nor SMU-two schools who remained in contact-had not offered

out of curiousity, where would McCann's Rivals rating of 5.3 or whatever generally fall within the DFW area 100? Would McCann be top 50, 75 or not in at all?
