LB Shaine Hailey Commits to SMU

Post by Stallion »

First Team All-TAPPS Big School Division. Bishop Dunne went 14-1. Also was apparently leading tackler for 2014 State Champion 15-0 team when they won championship 41-0

Footballdad isnt wrong here- on the surface, these are the kind of guys we would've killed June for recruiting a few years ago. I think CM and staff are doing a much better job of talent eval than the previous staff, however, so I think/hope these under the radar guys will pick up more offers during their senior seasons.

June would pick these guys up in November and January after nobody offered. How many spring commits did we have under the previous regime? These are not the same.

correct answer-its a totally different thing to find great prospects before they blow up than it is to pick up scraps in January. Ex. Will McBride all of a sudden is a hot prospect-at least at the upper G5 level.

"Eight members of SMU’s 2016 class received at least one Power Five offer after committing. SMU signees gathered 16 known Power Five offers after committing. Brandon Benson stayed committed after a last-minute offer from Mississippi State. Corey Rau said no to late offers from Texas and Texas A&M. Kadarius Smith turned down Oklahoma State, Missouri and Arizona State. Joshua Shelmire and Harrison Barton, unrated and barely on the FBS radar when they committed, grabbed two Power Five offers each.

Of SMU’s 2017 commitments, only Alan Ali had a Power Five offer when he committed. Tyquez Hampton, Cade Brewer and Toby Ndukwe had none when they picked SMU. They’ve combined for eight since. Will McBride and Shaine Hailey have added non-Power Five offers since committing to SMU."

If it were June then he would have quit recruiting (using this term loosely) other players at the same position based on their commitment...

June and his staff would barely/rarely even follow up with their committed recruits once they committed. You don't finish recruiting until they sign. I remember a Plano West linebacker was so upset about the lack of contact, he took a walk-on spot somewhere else rather than take his scholarship here!!!
