Baylor is screwedWho is going to take the job if the entire staff gets canned, which could plausibly happen? Baylor football is in REAL trouble, and that's not counting the criminal, social, and political fallout. It was a bottom feeder job within the conference to begin with, and that's before it became as toxic as a Nuclear Waste site. The lawsuits are coming big time, and will resonate for years, and the school is going to have to come down on the team in some sort of way. The money they are going to have to pay out to the victims is going to come straight out of Baylor's football budget, not the English department.
If you consider taking this job, you are most certainly walking into SOME sort of self-imposed sanctions, due to the political fallout, and you'll be coming into the job less than 100 days from kickoff. You may not get to play for a championship or bowl, which negates the talent you have, and since - I believe - the kids can leave if the coach is canned you may be looking at a mass exodus. What if one of the current players knew something or somehow helped cover up the matter or intimidate a coed who tried to go for help? That would nix any 'don't punish the kids' cry. You don't think they'd make Baylor ineligible for three years like THAT? You are following one of the most successful coaches in school history - if not THE most successful - and yet you will still be viewed as the cheater for even being associated with the school. No coach that is hired can have even a hint of impropriety on his record - absolutely NO Bobby Petrino or Calipari-like coaches can be hired. And he's got to be available tomorrow. Plus, the AD may be out - it's probably still being worked out, so you don't even know who you're boss will be (not to mention the President). Don't even get me started on the possible Big XII ramifications of this. Possibly the best team in the conference this year is poster-boys for Rape, so it doesn't matter if they win every game 100-0 they aren't going to the CFP this year, which could ruin the Big XII's chances, and at the worst possible time. It doesn't matter if there's a palatial new stadium on campus and All-American talent on the field - It's literally the worst possible scenario for taking a college football HC job. That's why Morris, and no sitting HC in the country, is going anywhere near Waco. Mike Singletary would be the first possible option, and they need to go to him ASAP. But after that the list gets short.

Re: Baylor is screwed
this is an outstanding point that I haven't heard anyone make. totally correct, the season hasn't started and they have ZERO chance at CFP selection no matter what they do on the field, none. Doesn't matter if no official ncaa sanctions. What bowl game with a corporate sponsor is going to touch them this year? they may have to self impose just to avoid the issue for the Big 12 and themselves. Re: Baylor is screwedPlayers can't leave without being subject to NCAA transfer rules because the coach is fired unless NCAA imposes sanctions or Baylor voluntarily waives transfer rule

Re: Baylor is screwedOne thing that will be interesting should the ncaa come up with something to look into....won't the special sins of the Father treatment afforded to smu be applied to Baylor as well? Murder cover up was a mere 13 years ago and that damn near got them the dp
Re: Baylor is screwedprior NCAA probation history has and always will be a consideration for the NCAA

Will Baylor refuse to voluntarily waive the transfer rule for players with a strong moral objection to being associated with Baylor's rape culture?

Re: Baylor is screwedI think the NCAA will likely review the Baylor Investigation Report for completeness and thoroughness and likely accept it without much further investigation like they did with SMU's Bishop Report and the Penn St. Private Investigation Report. The NCAA wants schools to self police their own programs and when they see evidence of an independent, complete investigation they won't waste much time in confirming pretty damaging findings and holdings which likely establish prima facie evidence of NCAA violations as well as defenses mediating the Institutional Control issue. They may ask for clarification but will then quickly make a determination of any possible NCAA violations based largely on the Baylor findings.

Hah
Re: Baylor is screwedI wonder if they impose a 2016 bowl ban...season is shot anyways, might mitigate future NCAA sanctions and allow them to rebound better
