Impact on Baylor - the University.
Wondering what impact this will have on Baylor from a university standpoint? It has to have an overall negative impact with student recruitment Might not change the direction of a die hard Baptist, but there has to be 10-20 percent who will not want to attend Baylor in this environment. That is enough to send admissions into a tail spin. They have made some good progress in that area so it's a shame for their entire school.
Probably to TCU's benefit. Their student body and SMU's have almost zero admissions overlap.
Not to mention overall giving. I know during our death penalty days we lost ground in several areas that took decades to repair.

Look to Penn State, Tulane (Katrina) and SMU as extreme cases of what could happen if it gets worse and the NCAA comes down on them.
I suspect Baylor is in the top 7-10 schools with overlapping applications. I know someone admitted to Baylor and TCU who was on SMU's waitlist. Anecdotal and lives in Dallas County.

I would bet they were no higher than 8 on our overlap list. None of the out of state kids who want to come to Texas and like the idea of SMU would consider Baylor. You either want that slow (supposedly) protected culture or you don't.
In state, most kids know it is waaaay harder to get in SMU, and if they aren't a top student they don't even try.
I'm just saying this will knock them below TCU in student quality pretty quickly.
It's too bad, since only a few people hold the blame for this and thousands will pay a price. Kids that might have loved Baylor will not ever go there.

The immediate impact will be a reduction in giving. The top of their student applicant pool will now be much more likely to go to UT or TAMU. Furthermore, with a poor football team you can expect the male applicant pool to drop .
BU will stagnate and other universities will begin to pass them in the rankings when they otherwise would not have. The enthusiasm and energy is gone.

Not sure there is a corilation between winning and male applicant pool. TCU has a dang good football team and they are like 65 % female.

Don't know about the 65 number. Seems the only TCU women I see are 10s.
