2016-17 Starting five
Assuming no more personnel moves are made, this is my prediction:
Froling
B. Moore
Ojeleye
Sterling
Shake
Bench: Jarrey, Emelogu, Wilson, McDowell
Hope the freshman come in ready to work and everyone stays healthy/eligible...we are very thin in terms of bigs but if the freshman can play I think we will be able to run a lot of teams out of the gym.

That would leave no bigs on the bench to sub for anyone. And LB has not and from what I have seen probably will not run the type of offense to run teams out of the gym especially since Froling is not fast. I am thinking more like this:
PG Shake
SG Sterling
Wing Jarrey
Post B. Moore
Post Semi
PG Shake
SG Sterling
Wing Jarrey
Post B. Moore
Post Semi

It will all be interchangable I think...you'll see a lot of 4 -guard sets and small lineups where Semi and Ben are the "five"Rebel10 wrote:That would leave no bigs on the bench to sub for anyone. I am thinking more like this:

saw something on the twitter machine about Froling scoring about 30 points on 12 for 12 shooting in the FIRST HALF of some competition he was involved in over weekend

Sounds good. I think he will be good on offense for us. The question is the defense on the quicker bigs. I am looking forward to seeing how everyone does next year.Stallion wrote:saw something on the twitter machine about Froling scoring about 30 points on 12 for 12 shooting in the FIRST HALF of some competition he was involved in over weekend

I disagree. The big question is defense on physical low post bigs. I believe Ben and Semi can both defend athletic bigs much better than a Sabonis type. Froling is the only big with size on the roster and I don't think low post defense is a strength of his.

Its a summer league for University aged (U23) players, and its fairly new, I think this is their first year in existence. Harry plays for his hometown team, and the opponents come from other towns around the Queensland region. Not sure what competition is like, its too new.Stallion wrote:saw something on the twitter machine about Froling scoring about 30 points on 12 for 12 shooting in the FIRST HALF of some competition he was involved in over weekend

I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying. I do think that Ben and Semi can guard athletic quick bigs. I just think when Froling has to guard an athletic quick big it could be tough for him to do so but I could be wrong. We'll see. And I am trying to imply that low post defense is his strength. But I am looking forward to the season.LA_Mustang wrote:I disagree. The big question is defense on physical low post bigs. This is where matchups come in...if you've got an opponent with quicker, athletic bigs you'll see B. Moore and Semi get more minutes and even guys like Sterling and Gu defending bigsRebel10 wrote:I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying. If foster starts we are in deep [deleted]. He's got a great attitude but skills are lacking

Re: 2016-17 Starting five
LB is going to have to be all about matchups. It will be very interesting how he handles the offense.
As for Jarrey, why would we be in trouble if he starts?? I don't think he will, but he can do everything. He can defend as well as anyone on the team, he is an excellent rebounder for a wing, and even though he didn't show a lot of offense, he has the ability to drive and shoot the 3. He has a lot of upside, and with him hopefully back to 100% mentally with the knee, we should see an even more productive offensive player next season.

I see Jarrey as Sterling 2.0. He can defend multiple positions and hopefully do the little things that you need to win...but yeah, he's never going to be your primary scoring threat

Jarrey Foster is a pretty damn good athlete who was coming off a long layoff. He actually played better than I expected for a true freshman I too expect him to continue to improve in the future

Jarrey will start at some point. He is a complete LB player. His offense is apparently very underrated.
