"We absolve Coach Bowden of any past sins at Auburn, alleged or otherwise, as we welcome him as Baylor's new head football coach", said SBC Chairman Adrian Rogers. While I got the gist of the humor and sarcasm, a coupla' notes: 1) Adrian Rogers has been in heaven for a while now... 2) He hasn't been President of the SBC since 1988... 3) If, and it is a BIG IF, SMU keel-hauls Baylor 42-10, Stallion and I will dance in the fountain...I'll let him lead...
Please be more specific. WHICH FOUNTAIN? Don't we have about 6 now?
Just send 'da money.

Couple of things - only conjecture 1. Quite likely AD was told to coordinate and do coach hire (who else was going to do it?) by tomorrow and he would receive full salary if he resigned. 2. Who knows what AD dept people were fired. They probably received a the amount you talk will be in inverse proportion to your severance. But, if low level assts, and coaches get to stay, those fired may not have warm fuzzies for their previous employer. See SMU BBall.

I agree on point 1. Hiring a football coach right now was more important than hiring a new AD, so you let the AD stay on long enough to find an interim coach. If you fired the AD along with Briles, then you have president or regents choosing an interim coach or waiting for a new AD and it disrupts the coming season even more.

Since your ID would place you within a few years of my time at SMU, there was only ONE fountain that was significant...that the Tri-Delts always soaped...that campus police got fussy with students celebrating in when SMU beat Texas in Austin due to "___ _____"...the one in front of Dallas Hall. Showing my age, but that IS the only fountain at SMU.

Well, Mike Leach has never lost to Baylor (unless Wiki is in error). 10-0 vs. da Bears ..... by an average score of ~48-14 Baylor should also resist the urge to put locks on closets or keep portable storage lockers near their practice facilities.......in case The Pirate starts having flashbacks
