Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsList of players who did and did not show up from a free 247 article
http://baylor.247sports.com/Bolt/Runnin ... --45558378 An estimated of 14 of Baylor's signees arrived on Monday to begin their summer classes, leaving 10 still weighing their options. Among those 10 are four-star prospects Devin Duvernay, Patrick Hudson, Brandon Bowen, JP Urquidez, Kameron Martin and Parrish Cobb. Other prospects include Jared Atkinson, Kenan Ivy, Donovan Duvernay and Dequinton Osborne. If these players refuse to report without getting a waiver I think they can resign with other schools in January. Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsIf a player shows in summer but backs out before playing a single down in a real game would they also have option to transfer and play in 2017?

Re: 2017 Baylor commitments
I remember we were in early on Bowen, Cobb, and the Duvernay twins. But they blew up and had a lot of big schools after them late 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient

Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsWhile we are trying to track Baylors commits decommitting so that we can go after them we probably should be concerned with our own commits decommitting. We just lost our only remaining WR in the class and he was a very good prospect. El Paso WR Tyquez Hampton decommitted from SMU last night.
Billy Embody Billy Embody @BillyEmbody 2017 El Paso (Tex.) El Dorado WR @OfficallyTy decommits from #SMU. Has blown up this spring. Tough for SMU #HammerDown
Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsLosing Hampton hurts because he looks like a really solid player. However, WR is probably the lowest need on the entire team. Rolling into 2017 with Courtland, Proche, KT, Honey, Trey Quinn, Brandon Benson, and probably at least a couple other guys that I can't even remember off the top of my head feels like we'll be just fine. Big loss, but not one that is critical to us competing in '17 and '18.
I like sports and I don't care who knows.
Re: 2017 Baylor commitments
That's not the only point. We have lost a couple of recruits as well this week but have made a thread about Baylor recruits, none of which are probably coming to SMU. So while we are sticking our stuck up little noses at Baylor we need to be concerned with our own recruits. Whatever fallout is happening at Baylor is at Baylor. And the 2017 class is more than just competing in '17 or '18. #HammerDown
Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsLosing commits mean you have good commits.

Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsRebel you have some sort of weird love/hate issue with SMU, for also being a supposed fan. Baylor losing recruits is part of a bigger story going on - at a school that has been a traditional rival and is an hour an a half down the road. Of course there is going to be threads on that - check the threads on any other school in texas - they are covered up with this story since it is pretty big in Texas. Not sure how that related to having "stuck up little noses" which is just a goofy way to express that.
We have had issues holding on to our recruits this year for sure. Mostly due to Morris being a very good identifier of talent early, that P-5's come and poach. When we get some wins under our belt we will be operating from a much stronger position and there will be less of that issue. I take it as a good thing - nobody wanted June's recruits but us. Baylor blowing up can only help us frankly - there are now 25 extra talented players trickling down through the system and we can only due better because of it.
Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsUH is right on our heals with 3 top decommitments-TCU and A&M had double digit decommitments last year. Its what happens when you get early commitments from top recruits sometimes more than a year before signing date. Kids want to go on visits and I don't blame them. It didn't happen much when we recruited leftovers. Coaches that insist on this zero tolerance test are going to get burned.

Re: 2017 Baylor commitments
That's about right. This coaching staff is identifying players early that really get attention soon after. #HammerDown
Re: 2017 Baylor commitmentsWhile I realize when a commit decommits to look at bigger offers it can be considered a good thing from a recruiting pub standpoint but I don't think it was a good thing to lose Hampton unless they can replace him with someone equally as good or better and there are no guarantees that will happen. Can't wait for the first Baylor decommit to commit to SMU since some believe that will happen. If it does more power to this coaching staff.
