Yes, I've read several articles on the issue. None of these "honors" is close to having a name on the facility, but at least the first two are a step in the right direction.

When UH announced the change, none of these "honors" were mentioned so it sounds like UH did it to appease the family rather than paying respect to the man who made the facility possible.

Then maybe your current stadium should have been named Ownby. Why was he forgotten when the new stadium was built? Maybe SMU wanted to forget his name since SMU took his donation for a library and built a football stadium instead.

I'm guessing you'll say demolition vs renovation. The changes are quite drastic and not some cosmetic change, but technically you would be correct.

And yet the Hofheinz family and foundation were upset about the condition of the basketball arena as stated in their suit, but they weren't willing to provide any funding to maintain/improve it to honor his name. In fact, they wanted money given to them.
