The Larry Brown era was exactly what anyone could have expected it to be. We got to watch a lot of really great basketball with a lot of really interesting bumps in the road. Anyone who is mad at Larry today should also make sure to go outside and shout at the sun for rising, unless it's about the timing, which was obviously pretty tone deaf.

I think SMU handled this correctly. He turned the talent level in the program around, we gave him a lot of money and the chance to once again prove what a great basketball mind he is. Jankovich was the future though, and we didn't pay him so much money the last few years to have him sit silently as our program slowly slid off the rails. I'm excited for the future.

Spin it any way you want, but this really sucks. Star power just left the building and the excitement meter has crashed.

LB has pulled stunts like this at every stop, I welcome the Jank era.

its thing like this that actually make me think mexmustang isn't some dude holed up in a cabin in the woods with a tinfoil fat.

This is awful for the program. :(

Sure is hard to be an SMU fan with idiot moves like this going on.

How do you give a 90 year old a long-term contract

I hope his kids stick around at SMU and he sticks around as a consultant (like what he was doing at Nova).

I am extremely grateful for everything Larry has done. Think about the position that June left us in vs where Larry is leaving us...

We have the talent to compete for titles for the next 3-4 years and a HC that has shown he can handle running a top team.

I rather liked the more up-tempo style that Jank ran with in those 9 games. Looking forward to next season already!

Sources: #SMU team taking news of Brown leaving pretty well. Team plays it pretty cool in every situation. Team's more relaxed under Jank.

SMU needs to handle this better in the media...

SMU Athletic Director and President need to hold a press conference immediately!
1) Sincerely thank Coach Brown for building a National Power in Basketball
2) Recognize that Coach Brown was definitely getting old...I believe he is 75
3) Definitely wish SMU would have kept Coach Brown at SMU in some capacity
4) Move past the NCAA Sanctions, there is nothing more SMU can do about that
5) Congratulate Coach Jank on becoming the next Head Coach at SMU
6) I believe Coach Jank was 17-0 at SMU last year, this should be the story
7) Reassure the alumni, fans, players, and recruits that the program is in good hands with Jank

SMU Alumni and SMU Fans do not forget to be grateful for what Larry Brown did at SMU. No need to be mad or upset. SMU is in good hands with Coach Jank!
