Eh.

Good for him. We would, too, if he were our coach.

He'll never leave TCU for another college program. I do wonder if the NFL would interest him at some point...he's never recruited at an elite level (and doesn't seem like the type of guy who would enjoy recruiting) but develops talent very well

He and Morris seem to have a similar recruiting model, which should excite us. Get the best football players you can. Can't see him in the NFL ever.

He won't let it be known; but someone from SMU helped him get the contract.

If Patterson were interested in another gig, it would have happened by now. I have never seen any indication of anything other than he is a TCU lifer. It's been a great relationship for both Gary and TCU.

Gary, I play the fat frank-a-phone, Fatterson is a once in a generation coach. He is a tremendous football coach (yes, I did just throw up a little). However, would he have survived at another program? If you look at his antics over the years would he have kept his job at USC, Ohio State, or [insert massive brand name here]? I think the really bright spot light would have gotten him run out of town. The TCU job is a really good job, because he made it one. Nationally, TCU's brand is small enough to shelter him.

Examples:
1) Going after the team doctor on the sideline because he won't allow a kid with a concussion play.
2) The press conference the next day, where he didn't make any sense - looked really ridiculous
3) His players were the biggest drug dealers on campus
4) Picking fights with opposing coaches after a loss (Baylor a couple of years ago)
5) His press conferences after any loss

Great coach, great recruiter.

I cannot stand, however, how he berates his players during games, he practically breaks into a sprint (a sprint for him anyway) to go yell at someone coming off the field. Happens multiple times every game. Very unprofessional and off putting.

Of all my digs at June, I did respect how he never showed up a player during a game.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

I watched Hayden Fry, who I rank as one of my top five men on the planet, fire several assistant coaches during games. Some coaches just act out of their normal character when the pressure is on. As long as you develop a strong relationship with them you can stomach the ranting during the game.

Then again he has lost the same amount of games SMU has won the last 2 years lol.

Patterson said after we beat TCU several years ago, that he had helped SMU football program, but would never help us again.

Fatterson was June's zoloft connect and cut him off after that loss. It was all downhill from there.
