But in the article he says that he doesn't want ANY schools from Texas - an improved SMU brings the same problems, from his standpoint, as Houston does. And it doesn't matter what bow you put on it, no school outside of Texas wants another Texas school. Our location is KILLING us.

Gundy's logic is hollow and screams insecurity. Same for the KSU coach. They are admitting they are afraid of UH coming into Big 12....this is actually something UH can use to their advantage in the recruiting trail. The north big 12 schools are trash/worthless and they know it. ISU, WV, KSU, KU and OSU are worth what AAC schools are worth.
The non-Texas schools may not want more Texas, but unfortunately there aren't any markets in the region outside of Texas that bring viewers and ultimately that is what this will be about. ESPN is losing viewers and the Conference networks will need market footprint and there are 6 million viewers whose money has yet to be tapped.
Unless OSU can cut a deal to go with OU (not necessarily a slam dunk), they need some Texas schools.
Support the Commitment! We're all SMU Mustangs fans- we should all be committed!

Our location is killing us? It's just about the only thing we have going for us.
Gundy just made the perfect recruiting pitch for UH and SMU. Chad Morris and Tom Herman need to send that article to every single Texas recruit that is considering non-traditional powers in the Power 5 located outside of Texas.
"I wanted SMU. But I seem to want it more than the Mustangs do, so I'm giving up on them. You have to fight for this thing. I don't sense Gerald and the boys are getting their hands dirty right now."
My hopes are never high. And I hate living in reality. My imagination keeps me young. Just yesterday I was an astronaut going to space. Now you know what I do during my afternoons at work.
Dallas and Houston are both experiencing explosive growth. The Big 12 needs to dominate both markets, now and into the future. Playing every other year in Fort Worth will not cut it. You also need B12 games in both Dallas and Houston.
This article is from 2014, but it makes an interesting case for SMU and Houston, chief among them is divisional alignment, which would be a headache for all non-Texas candidates.
"Once the number 3, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."
