damn i'm sorry I hit a nerve? pretty surprising considering how rarely I post on here.
for the record, i'm not subscribed to any of the pay sites. just calling it how I see it and being realistic about the whole situation. i'm hoping for the best, but not holding my breath.

I don't think they are talking about you. I think they are talking about Pony Boss.

Wish it was Seth Russell or Shock Linwood with those season ending personal issues.

I read he's leaving the program.
Assuming he hasn't raped anyone maybe he would like to continue his career in Dallas?

Time for someone to point out again that Texas and Tech are far more likely to support a state school rather than a private for membership.
My memory is that it was legal action by the big programs that led to the current P5 and G5 situation. I suspect it will be legal action by a group of schools that were left behind that changes the situation so that a defined means of promotion is established.
Whatever SMU once was, or might have returned to or become had the DP not occurred is not relevant. Winning now, and over several seasons such that home attendance and TV ratings improve is the key.
Every game counts but it is premature to hang it all on beating Baylor tomorrow. It would be a step on the path but would have to be the start of a pattern.
Having said that, I hope we win. GO PONIES.

As recent as 2014 UH had trouble getting 20,000 at most home games. Last week's game did very well tv ratings wise because they were playing #3 OU, and UH has a lot of buzz. I'll be curious to see what the tv rating is when they play UCF or Tulsa.
But a case can now be made that if UH is playing a team that the city of Houston is actually interested in (i.e. the bulk of the Big 12), they will support the program.

I would be a huge fan of a system of promotion/relegation (The bottom team drops out of the P-5 conference and the top team from a G-5 conference replaces it). The only way one of the P-5 conferences would accept it is if the system was put in place by a judge. Same goes for the TV partners.

and IMO the same holds true for SMU. IF we played UT, A&M, or some other schools of interest we would also have the city/people interested. As has been said many times on this site people won't come to see a game against a team that doesn't have local interest (aka most AAC teams).

Assuming the goal is to win every game and there are 12 games, a win helps us .08333 towards that goal. If you factor the opponent ranking as a premium over the standard benefit, baylor being ranked 23/128 provides an adjustment to .151693.
Unless there is an agreed upon weighted set of selection criteria produced by the B12 expansion committee AND someone on this site has inside information from PWC regarding content, we might as well discuss how much bigfoots and unicorns help the ecosystem.
