I also don't understand why Garrett Gilbert and Ramon Flanigan are the only QBs who have really done anything since the DP. (Mike Romo, too.)

I don't think Michigan and Florida run up tempo offense like SMU. Maybe they thought he was more of a pro style offense QB. Whatever the case he has time to improve his accuracy.

That's pretty tough for a guy starting his first game as redshirt freshman. I thought he did a lot RIGHT. Once and for all he showed that Matt Davis is the reason for half of Matt Davis' sacks. Hicks got the ball out fast and distributed the ball to all his receivers. We still only have one WR that competes well for the ball in the air. Now if you want to say we got the kids on campus that can turn this around I agree but right now we are too inexperienced on Defense. Those same kids though in 1-2 years are going to beat a lot of teams but they aren't there yet. That's why the Defense is a year behind-but the kids who will turn it around are at least on the field

I love how everyone keeps talking up Brewer and can't wait for him
When in reality our starting qb for the next 2 years, and rightfully so, will be the Arkansas transfer. People on here really think a true freshman will start over him? I don't see it.

Charlie Brewer is definitely capable of starting for SMU next fall if he enters at mid-term just like Buechele at Texas. The kid is a winner

I could be wrong but I thought Peavy only has one year of eligibility left. So if they redshirt Brewer fine.

the guy not on the sidelines is always the next coming. I actually saw quite a bit to like in Hicks today. I'd rather see him out there than davis the rest of this year. He actually runs the offense and can connect.

If proche tries one more one handed catch i'd bench his [deleted].

disappointed in Kevin Thomas too-he just isn't competing for ball when its in the air. Same as last year-needs to go get it. He dropped a big one too

He competed for that ball he stole from a certain interception in the first half. That was a beautiful catch. Should have laid out for that one he tried to one hand.

I believe he has two. But either way unless brewer is leaps and bounds better than everyone else I see no reason to not redshirt him. I suppose we will find out next fall. I've been wrong before so here's hoping I am again because that'd only mean great things for smu if he can grab the job as a freshman

You slot players in recruiting but play the best players in actual Football. If he comes in here and clearly beats out competition like Buechelle did in Spring Practice at UT-you play him. You don't slot better players behind anyone

We haven't recruited well at QB. I hope the coming QB's are GREAT. But, I wouldn't rule out Ben Hicks yet. He might be our answer.

Next year there's a good chance we have 3 good/great quarterbacks. When's the last time that happened? Cupboard is no longer bare from what I saw in this game, this is a middle of the road Big 12 caliber roster. The babies just need to grow up, Hicks included. I say just play him the rest of the year, as this is a growth/development year for the team. Like Stallion has said that will pay dividends.

Look at the 2017 schedule and tell me you don't see at least 8 wins there.
