Yes but we were also saying we need linemen, offensive and defensive, linebackers, defensive backs, running backs, and a coach.

How are people dismissing Hick after his very first start as a redshirt freshman? Y'all are ridiculous. He did some things right, and he did some things wrong. The 1st quarter he played great!
Also, pony fans is the king of crowning high school seniors as stars and difference makers before they even step on campus. Hicks getting action this year will only make us better for next year and the QB comp between Brewer, Peavy, and Hicks.

If we could run the ball inside the 10 yard line for a score, we would not be talking about QB play. His mistakes increased because he tried to do more towards the end of the game to get back into it - and that's what you remember and are talking about. Did you think we were a QB away at the half? Baylor has experience in all facets of the game and we don't - YET - when these kids are in the program 3 to 4 years vs. 1 or 2, we will see different results.

At least PonyPlayer4 and smitty329 see it. Hicks is a redshirt freshman starting his first D1 game against a ranked team. He was a 4* recruit out of high school and has the tools to be a D1 quarterback. Give this guy a couple of games against comparable competition and see what happens. I think we will see great play from Hicks against other AAC teams.

The big question now is: Do we go with Hicks the rest of the year or with Davis when he is healthy? Glad I don't have to make that decision, but, that is why we pay HCCM the big bucks.
Just send 'da money.

Not only is it shown that Davis is partially responsible for a lot of sacks and missing open receivers, but Hicks stepped into passes when the rush was bearing down. Matt bails a lot. Lots of guts in that kid. Just need to find a way to improve the accuracy.

Isn't the announcement tomorrow that Matt Davis will miss the rest of the year?

I think we are a better team with Hicks personally. Davis is a better athlete that tries to do too much, and is even more erratic than Hicks with his passes. The folks that think Hicks is the problem must not have been at the game.

His three interceptions were a problem, and especially the one he missed with Sutton in the end zone and the pick six. Not saying he won't be good, but to imply his interceptions weren't a big reason we lost the game is silly.

I am pulling for him and think he will be good, but there are some issues of legitimate concern (though they may not be a concern a few games down the road but who knows).

Because the backup (new recruit) is unknown and thus without flaws. Brewer might be a great prospect, but true freshmen qb's rarely thrive. If they win the job, great. But, needing them to win the job is a recipe for failure.

Next year, we will have legit QB depth with Hicks, Arky Boy and Brewer fighting for the starting job. Hopefully, Hicks/Peavey win the job allowing guys like Brewer to seriously compete for PT as a Sophomore.

The best part: we won't have an enormous hole in our roster at QB again: 4 recruited QB competing for playing time.
Colbert - Junior
Hicks - Soph
Peavey - Junior (I think)
Brewer - True Freshman

Rock - RS Freshman - I assume that they are going to move him back to defense.
Walk Ons - who knows.

Severt - he has been moved to TE.
