Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman on Courtland Sutton

A wide receiver you need to know
IΓÇÖm not sure any player I see in person this year will pass the eye-ball test as emphatically as SMUΓÇÖs sophomore WR Courtland Sutton does. The 6-4, 220-pounder is someone college football fans need to get to know.
He was recruited by the old SMU staff as a safety before being moved to WR. As a redshirt freshman last fall, Sutton caught 49 catches for 862 yards and nine touchdowns. Head coach Chad Morris and his staff were at Clemson and saw Sammy Watkins have a sophomore slump and challenged Sutton to work hard to avoid that, and they say he has.
"HeΓÇÖs a special kid and heΓÇÖs really a different player this year,ΓÇ¥ SMU OC Joe Craddock says. ΓÇ£HeΓÇÖs more comfortable in this scheme. HeΓÇÖs gotten faster and stronger. ThatΓÇÖs scary."
Morris says Sutton, who probably runs in the mid-4.5s, is very similar to DeAndre Hopkins with great body control, huge hands and ball skills and that heΓÇÖs even bigger than the NFL star. Actually much bigger. In two games this season, Sutton has 10 catches for 274 yards and four touchdowns.

Courtland is REALLY good. I have my doubts about keeping him here for all 4 years of his eligibility.

I can see him staying next year to improve his draft stock. I have a feeling with quarterback play this year he may be projected to be a few rounds lower than his potential

He really should stay for next year, it'll be a good one.

Re: Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman on Courtland Sutton
the key for Courtland in the NFL is to increase his speed-if he can run sub 4.5s then his stock will shoot up. It can be done-see Emanuel and Banjo who both significantly improved times
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Speaking of future, where is Honey. He looked good on the spring. Has he even played?

Re: Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman on Courtland Sutton
Where did Chad say that??
Courtland needs to refine a few things and get in better shape so he doesn't come out so much (although I'm sure that's somewhat common). Having said that, if the young man sees legit huge dollar signs after this year, take the money and run and it will be sad to see him go but I will never fault anyone for that.
(and, yeah, I'm shocked we haven't seen Honey yet . . . I hope someone else steps up besides Proche . . . we need another boundary threat, I'm assuming they are red shirting Benson).
