Isn't playing down to a weak opponent only a half-step above actually being a crappy team? Yay.

I don't think the offensive line is changing anytime soon either.

This Liberty team is not what everyone here thinks it is. THey ain't alabama, but they are dangerous, have a good solid QB with a good offense, and can cause issues for just about anyone.

Hard to say anyone should be happy with this win, but TCU looked like hell at home against a crappy team also - so they don't seem like world beaters. we probably lose, but no need to say we don't win any others. I will stay with 5.

Liberty had a good solid QB last year but the new guys are terrible. They wouldn't beat anyone on our schedule.

22,127 is a solid attendance figure for Liberty.

Will TCU come close to a sellout?

Half of those must have been disguised as empty seats.

UNT maybe because their QBs suck but Tulane is a lot better. Fritz has them running the ball and playing defense now.

I'd guess 17,000. The SMU side was almost full (until halftime) and the east side was almost completely empty except for the students and one section of Liberty fans.

You're absolutely right. I was standing on the sideline when it happened, and from my angle it looked like the defender (linebacker Dexter Robbins) hit the SMU receiver well before the ball arrived.

More teams are doing that these days — until the next Thomas Morstead walks through the door, teams are willing to put together an array of directional kicks, etc., to simply keep the ball away from opponents.

Tonight, the teams combined to punt the ball nine times. Not one was returned.

Was at the game. Hicks played terrible again especially in the red zone. We can't keep turning the ball over down in the red zone and expect to win any games. On one of the picks it was a clear pass interference though.

Honestly the score should've been much better if Sutton doesn't drop that catch that would've been a td, and if we don't [deleted] the bed every time we get to the red zone. It definitely wasn't pretty but at this point I will gladly take any wins. But we won't be getting any more wins if we play the way we did today.

There was some questionable play calling. It seemed like we did not try to throw the ball deep at all to Courtland in the second half after his drop.

So Hicks really threw one interception and his numbers should have been 20 for 31 and about 270 yards if Sutton doesn't drop the perfectly thrown ball. I'm really not understanding why SMU fans don't think Hicks was substantially improved tonite

Because one out of every 3 passes flies awkwardly out of his hand. He threw one to the sideline on a 3rd down that was so bad Morris ran out on the field screaming at him. Then Morris turned around, regained his calmer demeanor and discussed it with Hicks. I do not think he grips the ball well. It just slips out of his hand too often. Needs to be corrected. Are colleges allowed to deflate the ball?

a huge improvement from 17 for 44 and 229 yards and 3 Ints. I watched him in the spring game and he has come a long way since then. I think he has potential although I don't think he'll likely start next year. My expectations were very low after the spring game. But he is definitely improving and he'll be better than Davis was during the second half of the season last year. No excuse for Sutton dropping that home run ball which was perfectly thrown
