I get it. Millines is a very good player. But when one guy gets ejected, you can't change the entire game plan defensively. Up to that point, SMU was blitzing all over the place and very creative. After that point, we played super conservative 4-3 with no blitzing. All that does is make us play a soft zone, rush 3 or 4, the QB has a billion years, and then they dump it into space and take advantage of our poor linebacker play to convert a 3rd and 13. Our LBs are only effective when they are playing aggressively and pushing forward. Let them just do that. Slow death is painful. I'd rather watch 12 miss a tackle and give up a long TD than 18 play drives with 4 3rd and 15 conversions.
Ben Hicks is not an accurate pocket passer. Period. When he gets rid of the ball quick through a pre-snap read he is much better than sitting back and going through progressions. Simplify it. Also, it was obvious in the last game that he was very accurate on the rollout. This game, he did it once and completed the pass. You are on your third left tackle. I get not wanting to get your QB killed. Instead of going into a shell and running a delay up the middle every time for 2 yards, move the pocket to cover for the OL. There are too many weapons on offense to have THAT happen to us, and TCU isn't even that good defensively this year.
Special teams. Holy crap. Our coverage sucks and that is obvious to anybody. But our KO return game is horrible. Can we block just one person? One? KJ is fast as lightning and can't get to the 15.

he's not mobile enough to do what you are suggesting against an athletic team like TCU or Baylor-its different playing Liberty. He is a traditional drop back passer and always will be
Its as different as the effectiveness of Braeden West against Liberty vs his effectiveness against TCU

Kick, out-of-bounds. Always. Forever. Kick-off, punt, free kick, anything! Doesn't matter. Kick it out of bounds. We can't cover a 6 year-old's mouth with a sneeze. Our special teams are Not good.

I think SMU had given up 7 punt return yards all season
Why? Because of directional kicking. 35-37 yard punt out of bounds is a positive not a negative these days. Tonite he left a couple of punts too close to center of the field and they burned us bad. Forget kicking the ball to TCU's playmakers. Kick it out of bounce or close to the sideline.. Same thing happened last year with that Punter who everybody loved because he out kicked his coverage with pretty spirals

Yes, kick out of bounds. Indeed, they burned our arse.

As bad as our coverage has been I have been screaming to kick out of bounds on kickoffs also. I will live with the 35 yard line until we learn to cover.

The worst unit on the team is our Kickoff return team-one of the worst we've had around here. Nobody is ever blocked Hoping for Touchbacks. We've probably run off some upperclassmen who might have helped

On the first couple of punts, TCU, knowing that our punter is rugby style and left footed, rushed hard from that side, preventing him from going that way, and he kicked it right down the middle. Look for that to continue moving forward.

Definitely could see more of that moving forward.
