Yep, SoCal_Pony, I agree, we need JC/FCS transfer help.

Especially for CM on the OL.

Cupboard was so bare and its expecting too much for 18, 19 or even 20 year olds to meaningfully contribute.

Not disagreeing but our past history with OL transfers and JC has been pretty bad. If Chad will hang around, there are some big boys on the sideline red shirting that can be a big part of the future.

OL was opening some big holes to start the game but once Hicks starting missing on deep throws, TCU was able to crowd the line and stuff the run. Our OL is banged up and not very deep but I still see improvement over recent years where every play was a jail break

I remember having high hopes for PB, his first full-year recruiting class was the best post-DP absent maybe last years' CM class (I think PB's was ranked higher on Rivals). But as the losses on the field mounted, he couldn't sustain his recruiting momentum.

Do recall reviewing K-St's roster and some 55 players arrived there the unconventional route, i.e. JC or Community College, so I had high hopes he implement the K-St way to jumpstart our program. He didn't, probably our Admin had something to do with that, and the rest of course is history.

Yes, CM's redshirt OL might be good 2 years from now, and great 4 years from now. That's too long a wait IMO.

You must have missed the June Jones era.

Disappointing after having gone through two spring and two fall camps when the whole team was learning a new system.

There is no reason to question the Model Chad Morris is using to turn this program around.. Its been excellent so far.. Recruiting competitive recruiting classes off 1 and 2 win teams.. Had some tough breaks losing our starting QB and RB-perhaps both for the season-the only thing that matters from a long term perspective are those 27 true, medical, redshirt freshman and first year transfers already playing plus the kids redshirting this year. That is the nucleus of the turn-around. I understand that some don't want to wait until next year for the party but that is what Morris' Model is about. Otherwise, he would have brought in those 20 JUCOs in his first two classes. Don't need that here at SMU-it fails far more often that the traditional Model Morris has decided to use. Only JUCOs SMU will sign under Morris will be the emergency recruit to plug holes in the roster. I'd rather plug with Division 1-A transfers any way which I expect to see more of as players who Morris previously recruited transfer from other schools. This is a 3-4-5 year rebuilding process because of the lack of talent left by June Jones-and Morris thankfully did not try to take a short-cut

At least June would try a 40 yard pass up the middle on second down of every other position...it was unimaginative and predictable but at least it was sometimes aggressive.

you can question the model because we've got all these so-called electric local receivers not getting involved and not scoring touchdowns and the playcalling is just boring . How long are we going to get top level DFW athletes if they're watching games like that ?

I agree, looked great for the TV audience, I just wish the cameras would have actually panned on the stands more than they did, and actually SHOW the TV audience. I don't ever recall seeing a good shot of the crowd on ESPN, maybe I missed it. The shots from PonyFan posters looked great.

They will be much better next year. You are trying to compare bad recruiting with good recruiting. Don't look at Bennett and Jones. Look at Ron Meyer.

Big holes-really? I didn't see any nor did our running backs.

Morris has to get a better kicker in here-period. And our Aussie punter had a poor game for the most part last night as did our special teams. A lot of bad coaching in that department. Line drive directional punts are fine when they go out of bounds but when they are fielded the receiver has a lot of time to run free.
