Texas Tech Just About Done

Postby Stallion » Sat Jan 07, 2006 2:38 pm

the reason I bring this up is that Tech has been listed with players at the top of SMU's list like the Johnson kid and Sanders and Alexander from Marlin and others. Someone also said Johnson is not at the top of A&M's list (haven't really seen this verified but assuming its true) although Johnson lists A&M and Tech as his favorites. Tech with 29 commitments may have very little room to make any more offers. Along those lines UT, OU, OSU, Missouri and Iowa St also have between 23-25 so the game of musical chairs is getting small. Maybe some will drop.

With 29 commitments, how many can not get into TX. Tech....or, will Tx. Tech simply not honor their commitment to the student athlete?

Talk about a sorry way to demonstrate "Commitment"....Tech and Coach Knight have just presented "Exhibit 1".

You mean Coach Leach?

Actually, Coach Knight also "released" a basketball commit, too (see PF.com basketball board).

teams go over 25 all the time. If they are JC or mid term HS enrollees then they count on the previous year-if there are any remaining spots open based on the 25 man limit of enrollies ie August 1-NOT based on players who may have signed LOI but never qualified or enrolled. Also, a couple could be grey-shirts and enroll next January and in fact I think the WR Lyle Leong from Abilene will be a gray shirt. But they are pushing it.

Question - how much can a school anticipate attrition for grades/jail/homesick and offer more then the limit knowing they will lose a couple (the airline oversell method).

Is it a per team total or a per year total? - just wondering when the count that matters happens.

If there is any school that should play this game it should be us - based on our rockstar/intramural game/grade issues/ history.

August 1 is what matters. If a team signs about 6 players who have yet to qualify they might sign a couple extra realizing its unlikely that certain of them will be late qualifiers. TCU signed 6 of them last year icluding 4 great great prospects and 4 qualified late.

There's always the grayshirt route, too.

Then, if someone leaves unexpectedly, a grayshirt can be brought in immediately, like we did this year with Adrian Dizer and Josh Hickman.
