Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigWith the increasing likelihood that the Big XII will defer expanding, Mike Aresco wants to distance us from the Group of Five.

Power 5 sounds nice but we're pulling in 1/20th the money.
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigIt's definitely at least the Power 5+1.
Shake It Off Moody
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking big
The deal was negotiated when the AAC had no leverage. Now it has much more leverage, so they can renegotiate better terms IMO.
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigIt's really not even close. AAC all around is obviously the best conference not called the BIG, SEC, ACC, B12, PAC. We just need a TV deal to get us in the ballpark of what those conferences get. On the bright side I think we get really, really great exposure with our current deal.
This whole B12 expansion deal - assuming we nor anyone else gets picked - has been a big advertisement for our conference.
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigits much more likely that the others come down, than that the AAC goes up. The total of all six major conferences will be down after the next round - that much is certain.
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking big
The AAC will definitely command more money in the next TV deal. However, it will not be anywhere near the Power 5 as they will likely get less money in their subsequent contracts.
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigThe thing holding the AAC back is the lack of accessibility to the CFP. Conveniently that is also one of the main things threatening the Big XII. Aresco needs to go to Bowlsby, and possibly the PAC 12 should UW flounder and cost their conference a spot, and work together to get the NCAA to expand the CFP to eight teams, with the P5 and the AAC automatically represented along with two wild card teams. That would make the conference immediately relevant and more attractive to TV deals while also securing the Big XII, thereby reducing the need for them to raid the AAC.

Here is Orlando Sentinel report, which is similar: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/c ... diron-365/ Pony Up
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking bigEvery member in the AAC would bolt given the opportunity. That's a fact.
AAC is the best non P5 conference but no member wants to stay. Makes you feel cheap...

Everyone except Tulsa and Navy

Thank you. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Aresco: Power Six? AAC is thinking big
The thing holding the AAC back is a number of schools with significant long term attendance/competitive issues and a limited fanbase. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
