Debunked. Houston filled up for UConn and Tulsa...two "lowly teams (insert city name here) fans don't care about.
Also other AAC teams with good records have good attendance. SMU filled up vs unranked TCU. Only teams with little amount of fans were USF and Temple.

We need multiple teams in the top 25. We almost have USF in there as well which would give us 3. If we're constantly putting 3-4 teams in there, we'll be fine and might be able to renegotiate the tv contract really well. It wont be anywhere near Big XII numbers, but it should be way better than what we have now and light years past MWC/CUSA/MAC deals

Most of the power conferences receive $20-25 million per team each season right? I think we should expect $5-10 million per team per season.

The development of the AAC has been a pleasant surprise. The competition level is light years ahead of the CUSA and our prior post-SWC conferences. Other than the typical Up/Downs caused by coaching changes/June Jones/etc, there aren't many teams that look like lifetime "patsies."
- Every team including Tulane and SMU already has 2 wins.
- There are 5 borderline Top 25 Teams ( most of their losses are against AAC competition BTW).

Compare to CUSA Standings: http://conferenceusa.com/standings.aspx?path=football
- Generally, wins by CUSA teams come from wins against other CUSA teams. Heck, their eastern division leader went (0-4) in non-conference play including losses to powers - Indiana, Maryland, Umass and UCF.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

most the P5 will be receiving 30-50 Million per school. I think the Big 12 projection is about 35 Million when the networks sweeten the pot not to expand. Here's one source for P5 Conference payouts-but remember Big 12 is going to get a jump and this information didn't include the bump up when the ACC entered into its GOR agreement

So they are paying the Big 12 100 million extra a year for doing nothing and adding 0 value?

Why don't they pay the AAC 100m a year and prevent those teams from being poached ?

Here's the thing about the AAC TV deal- what incentive does ESPN have to offer more? I don't think FS1 or NBC Sports is going to offer us a substantial raise over what we're getting now. How do we create more value for our TV product -- get Amazon, Google, etc involved in the bidding? Ideally we'd stick with ESPN because they provide the best exposure, but Aresco is going to have to figure out a way to jack up the price

When the AAC formed, it was an unknown/untested brand with mostly CUSA injections and leftover BE programs. A few years later and it has proven that it usually has 4-5 top 25 caliber teams in Football and Basketball as well as proving the conference champ and runner up that are as good as any P5 champ out there. The AAC is lightyears better than when they started, and much better than the Big East when they were offered the 120M a year deal by ESPN prior to collapse. I think you can make the argument that the product is solid and jack it back up to that level.

True, but the value of these TV deals in waning- check out the most recent deal C-USA just signed. Even the Big Ten only signed a 5 year deal for 1/2 of their package, thinking they could make more in a few years when the dust has settled. Cord cutting is really cutting into ESPN's bottom line right now, and they're already paying out the [deleted] for MNF, NBA, MLB, and their other college TV deals.

CUSA is a flaming piece of junk. The quality of the programs in all sports massively decreased. Hell they should be glad their FCS caliber league even gets a tv deal.

You cannot assume the AAC will get a lesser deal just because CUSA had their value adjusted...remember new CUSA is much worse and less valuable than the old one. In the AAC it's the contrary, the American now is worth more in terms of school quality and ratings than the old Big East. And the ceiling is much higher too.

The Big 12 is about to get 10m extra per school to stay put...I'm pretty sure the AAC can at least be worth that amount per school in the next round of deals...ESPN/Fox etc are doing fine.
