Agreed. He's a West Coast guy I believe. LSU will have a truck load of money for him. But there are other names out there for that job too and big names.

But I hear from my sources and they are super duper solid (SDS for short) anonymous sources that UT is all in on him. From my SDS sources, there is a certain former coach, that is pushing for Fedora.

I doubt they keep Strong.

Could Herman also have interest from Oregon? Phil Knight likes to spend a lot of money.

Texas, LSU, USC, Oregon. Nice problem to have, if you're Herman.

Even with buy-out and all, I would be rather surprised if he is retained. Texas Exes are seeing the steady decline of their program, and the general decay of their athletic footprint in the state and nation-wide. They will start in football first, and I would suspect it will be soon.

Herman is from California and his wife loves big cities. USC is perfect for him and his wife will be happy being in LA. I would be stunned if USC doesn't go all in on him. If for some reason they decide not to fire their coach after the season, then UT will write a check for however much Herman requests. UH already has their replacement set in Major Applewhite, so yes losing Herman will suck, but they already have a coach there who all the recruits know is still is a big name, so they will be fine.

Wouldn't Herman take Applewhite with him to UT?

Applewhite wants to be a head coach. If Houston offers, he will take it.

I like the contrarian point of view. I honestly hope Strong gets one more year. I think next year should be a good year for them based on the talent they have coming up. But as pointed out many times, I don't think a school like UT has any patience and will look elsewhere. Herman has to be the guy for them. I can't, off the top of my head think of another guy that will go to UT that's a bigger name. Fedora? Could be a good hire but not a bigger name. Don't see any major college coach taking the job and I don't see a never been head coach taking the job. It seems like Herman or bust for the Longhorns.

Question: A few years ago, Notre Dame lost out on the opportunity to hire Urban Meyer because they didn't have an "opening" at HC. Does ND fire Kelly (who has to be a hot seat) and make a play for Herman?

I don't see UT or USC changing coaches this year. Herman to LSU is all but guaranteed unless some other major programs opens up with a surprise vacancy.

I think Texas opens this year because of Herman. They don't want to miss out on him. That's my feeling. As previously stated, I hope that is not the case because I think Strong is about to turn the corner.

From what I understand Herman wants to be at UT or out on the West Coast. Notre Dame in a huge job but have never heard he's interested in going up north. Who knows though Touchdown Jesus is in South Bend. I just don't see Kelly getting shown the door this season.

I've heard/see Jimbo Fisher name come up for LSU. IF they can get him they would take him over Herman.
