Baylor fans are no longer allowed, in any form, to dump on SMU for "cheating"

HarvCrimYaleBlue wrote:"If you can pull off big wins at SMU with its recruiting limitations, you can win anywhere."

Could someone educate the local media a little better about the recruiting restrictions, or lack thereof, at SMU? The lazy narrative seems to be that SMU can't win because of recruiting restrictions related to academics. It's flattering that they think we are academically strong enough to have such restrictions but it simply isn't true.

Schools ranked 56 in US News don't have academic restrictions. They should say administrative restrictions for not paying for facilities (IPF) or recruiting well (when JJ was here).

If Stanford, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt can recruit, then SMU has no excuses.

Mosely is a piece of sh$t who has always gleefully taken shots at us. Canned by the DMN and ESPN and now reduced to writing "special contributor" reports for the DMN which means he gets 175 bucks per article.

That writer is stupid if he thinks a coach from UNC or CU would leave to go coach at Baylor. Baylor is in an awful recruiting area and Briles worked out cause he was from small town Texas and would get a qb with an arm and fast receivers. The only way a coach succeeds there is if you know all the little towns in Texas. Morris would succeed there but even despite their sanctions eventually coming, it makes much more sense for him to wait another year or two and get a real big time power 5 coaching gig

Baylor was once of the worst programs in d1 for much of their miserable history (after teaff) until briles got there. now they are headed for oblivion again.

I'm letting Moseley have it in Twitter. If you have an account, please do the same.

Bill Embody called him on it and his response was "[i]'m not convinced." Well isn't that fun. I have no evidence to support my thesis but I can write it as fact because my own subjective beliefs haven't been satisfied.

His "article" reads like he fully believes that the fault for the cesspool that is Baylor begins and ends with Art Briles. If that were true, then perhaps their coach search would be less problematic. For the rest of us who live in reality-land, they should hang onto Grobe and be thankful they have him. Interim President, no AD, the NCAA and DOE investigating you, multiple lawsuits either in place or on their way. Who the heck would be stupid enough to leave and knowingly walk into that mess? Baylor is on the verge of a complete and total collapse; when it is all said and done they might have enough money and clout to convince the local YMCA coach to come run the program for a while, and even he'd think twice.

Boulder is 15 in the country and just getting started on their reubuild and can compete in the Pac12 South. UNC is a great job in the ACC. I don't see a coach leaving those two spots for Baylor without sanctions looming, let alone the current [deleted] Baylor is in right now. This writer is awful

You are absolutely correct about the "denial". I was in Waco yesterday to see my 85 year old cousin, a sweet , intelligent lady who is a Baylor alum. I had decided on the drive down that I would not mention the sex scandal, as I expected that she was surely embarrassed and disappointed in her beloved Bears. Boy was I ever wrong !! She not only brought the subject up, but stated that it was terrible for Coach Briles and the players to have their reputations and careers ruined when , in fact, nothing had been proven in a court of law. Talk about drinking the Koolaid !

Don't forget that Grant Teaff is a miserable excuse for a human being himself, and it is telling that BU is turning to him for guidance during this disaster. I have read some of his comments and his entire focus is on salvaging the football program and healing the hurt feelings wounded Baylor fans.

Chad will not leave SMU for Baylor. That is one thing that's not going to happen. Anyone that has followed his entire Coaching Career understands what Im talking about. I do believe he will leave, but it will be 3/4 years. The only way I see that timeline changing is if Texas or Texas A & M were to call. Texas would be a big reach at this point. I would say Herman would need to loose a couple more games and SMU win out for him to get a good look. And that would be a real stretch at this time. Texas A & M not coming open this year. He isn't interested in TT. Remember he gave that opportunity up to stay at Clemson. Im not saying he would have got the job, but he forced them to look the other way with his demands. Baylor or Tech are probably lateral moves compared to SMU anyway. He is a very, very smart man. He understands how important the recruiting is. I do believe his next job will be in Austin or College Station because he would be so much stronger in the recruiting battles. SMU is safe for a few years unless Texas made a huge reach. Basically his SMU record doesn't warrant that at this time. Remember this, in all his years of Coaching he wasn't in the Playoffs/postseason only 2 times. Last year at SMU and one year at Stephenville. If anyone knows the Stephenville story, they know he want go to Baylor!!
