You are absolutely correct about the "denial". I was in Waco yesterday to see my 85 year old cousin, a sweet , intelligent lady who is a Baylor alum. I had decided on the drive down that I would not mention the sex scandal, as I expected that she was surely embarrassed and disappointed in her beloved Bears. Boy was I ever wrong !! She not only brought the subject up, but stated that it was terrible for Coach Briles and the players to have their reputations and careers ruined when , in fact, nothing had been proven in a court of law. Talk about drinking the Koolaid !

Someone on my street told me just today that Fox News was the only source of truth. I'm sure there are people out there who think MSNBC is the only source of truth as well (though looking at the ratings, not as many).

The point is that there are a lot of people out there who only listen to what they want to believe rather than searching for the truth. That it is happening with Baylor alums is not surprising at all. I'm embarrassed for them, but it isn't surprising.

They are also delusional, that they are so attractive a program that they can call on anyone and they would come running. In reality, with the possibilities forth coming, it would be a career ending decision for most.

Chad Morris is too smart and has too much class to go in that direction....

This x1000.

I don't care if they have Texas roots or not, I don't understand how anyone would leave Cal, North Carolina, or Colorado for Baylor, and that's BEFORE the second biggest sports scandal of this young century took place.
It might have been rare, but you can win a national championship at Colorado, and do it cleanly. UNC has had success in the past, as has Cal. But Baylor? They have been the biggest whipping boy in Texas history before Briles showed up, and now they are about to be gutted. COMPLETE rebuilding job, and possibly handcuffed by NCAA restrictions to boot.
If anybody leaves any P5 job for Baylor at this point then they are a fool, and possibly delusional.

I worry about a lot of things, but Chad to Baylor doesn't make the list. He will eventually jump, but it will be a MUCH bigger jump.

In a certain way you cant blame them for feeling they are big time and can attract anyone - they have had big time success in the last couple of years. The issue is where they are totally blind to the new world of title 9 issues and what it means if you ignore those issues. The fed, NCAA and everyone else is not playing around - and they walked right into the buzzsaw and delivered themselves as the perfect example.

I can remember back in 1986 when we got hit by the truck knowing full well it was coming and not being surprised - and knowing we pretty much deserved it (along with others - but that is s separate and well documented issue). But Baylor folks just seem to be in their own trance about what is about to happen, and not understanding that it is even an issue. Its reflects a strange disconnection from reality.

Their recruiting has already disappeared:

Like I said - TOTAL rebuild.

Yep. This was their last year where they had a chance to be really relevant. They will slide backwards next year to middle of the pack in the B12 or lower, and then be BAD for the foreseeable future. Kansas bad.

I know the other B12 programs won't complain about it, but it is not good news for the B12 when another team slides back down the standings. The conference already looks mediocre. Texas needs to bounce back in a big way for that conference to get any legitimacy.

With the way this game is going at the half, have to think Chad's phone might not be ringing in December.

Let's just hope that is the case because we all know this team and roster will be a lot better next year. I sure hope Chad & Co stick around to finish the job they've started here. Barring a miraculous comeback, maybe this loss could go in a "silver linings" thread

Baylor alumni, supporters, students and faculty are deeply and emotionally divided over the whole issue. As my Baylor friend texted me during the game, the atmosphere is toxic and anarchy reigns within the Baylor community. I understand what he is saying. Plus the NCAA issue looming
I can't imagine what "established" coach would want to walk into that Horner's nest
