You are absolutely correct about the "denial". I was in Waco yesterday to see my 85 year old cousin, a sweet , intelligent lady who is a Baylor alum. I had decided on the drive down that I would not mention the sex scandal, as I expected that she was surely embarrassed and disappointed in her beloved Bears. Boy was I ever wrong !! She not only brought the subject up, but stated that it was terrible for Coach Briles and the players to have their reputations and careers ruined when , in fact, nothing had been proven in a court of law. Talk about drinking the Koolaid !
Someone on my street told me just today that Fox News was the only source of truth. I'm sure there are people out there who think MSNBC is the only source of truth as well (though looking at the ratings, not as many).
The point is that there are a lot of people out there who only listen to what they want to believe rather than searching for the truth. That it is happening with Baylor alums is not surprising at all. I'm embarrassed for them, but it isn't surprising.
