Shaggy Bevo has a thread of 422 pages on Briles/Baylor
Killer Frogs has one 1038 pages (anti Baylor in general)
Land Thieves has 114 pages on Briles

Perhaps it's just college football fans talking about college football? And perhaps, just everybody finds that school repulsive?

Why is there no leadership at Baylor? Can no one (Chancellor, BOR, Head Football Coach, Student Body President, anyone on that campus!) not realize that doing a "blackout" while there is active campaigning to support Briles with black T-Shirts would look a) like you aren't taking the matter seriously b) that you aren't respecting the victims and alleged victims and c) that this puts your university right back into the spotlight?

At the very least someone at the school (and I'm looking directly at the football program and their head coach) should say "we aren't wearing black unis while this is going on. No matter of our level of support for CAB we are moving forward as a university and football program and will not have the appearance to not care about the situation we are in. We take this seriously."

No, instead the insinuation is that they did nothing wrong and being unfairly persecuted and want to protest about it on national TV. Sick.

Also, regarding CAB. I would fire him for simply stating he delegated down and that he was not aware of these issues. How does that excuse work for company executives? "Sorry my company committed massive financial fraud. I delegated down and had no idea this was going on. It's not my fault it's my employees fault." Sorry dude, you are suppose to be a leader of a national football program. Saban doesn't delegate down. He owns it.

The issue at Baylor was not a single event. It was a staff and a university that did not change direction in response to the numerous accusations that going on, yet alone convictions. Briles could have very easily passed on players with known issues (hello just like Boise) or immediately kick a player off the team when he has been accused multiple times of the same things. Nope, in the case of the Boise player who rapes someone within months of stepping foot on campus he and Bennett tell all the boosters they are excited to have him and expect him to suit up in the fall even though he's on trial for rape.

Baylor self righteousness would be raining down on any other school had this information come out. How would this play out if TCU or SMU were the school in the spotlight?

I'm not that old but I'm growing more and more cynical by the day. I just hope to keep my sense of humor like Mrydel. Everyone seems to asks how we get to where we are in the political landscape we are seeing unfold before our eyes. And I point to situations like this at Baylor, where a university that is suppose to be building up leaders instead have no leadership themselves. The ends justify the means.

Leading is hard. Leading means makes tough decisions that may have negative consequences. Leading means taking responsibility for one's actions.

Sorry for the rant. Too many BU people in my life (thank God my BU wife is appalled by the situation and has been since last season, but her friends, not so much).

ED4life, your rant is justified. I had a great seminary professor, a retired Marine, who defined leadership in simple terms:

"Follow Me"

A true leader leads from the front, not standing safely behind the lines and yelling "charge".
It was simple, profoundly Biblical, and is noticeably absent at Baylor University.

The @WSJ reports that the NCAA has informed Baylor it will not sanction the school as it did Penn State for sexual-assault scandal.

Sounds like BU is good-to-go because it doesn't look like they will sanction themselves. Give Artie back his whistle. Play ball!

Apparently Chuck left out this line

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has notified Baylor that it won’t exert its executive authority to impose sweeping sanctions against the school for broad institutional failings, and will instead follow its normal investigative process, according to people familiar with the matter.

If you're in full denial mode you might as well bring Briles back. Double down is my life strategy. Hopefully it works out better for BU than it has for me.

In other words, maybe the NCAA learned something from the debacle that became the Pedo State sanctions? This is nothing but bad news for Baylor. Like Norm said, this is a tee ball for the NCAA, and I think they're going to take their time and make sure everything is in order so when they bring the hammer down it sticks this time.

It's as good of a time to be a white, sexual assault-endorsing male as ever.

More bad Baylor news scrolling on ESPN-something about Baylor finding that Art Briles failed to report a sexual assault in 2012 involving 5 Baylor football players as suggested by Briles camp last week

Please just shut Baylor down NCAA. This whole thing is just terrible and sad.

If true they are going to have to fire the entire staff for not reporting AND lying about it too

good-bye

I think the mass text from last week sealed their fate. They just had to find a new reason.

Pretty obvious that leaving the son in the wood pile was a stupid move. That just seems obvious to anyone with any experience in mgmt of anything.
