Obviously not a great game and kills the momentum we had, but anyone who really thought we would be winning 6+ games this year with a team mainly consisting of underclassmen and a back-up QB had their expectations a little high. Next year is where the real fun starts.
Just curious. What is there about "his attitude" that would go against him at SMU? i've heard that criticism before, but have never known what "his attitude" was that was so bad.
He seems more abrasive and kind of a jerk. Morris is more engaging and classy. I just think they would have gone about the rebuild differently. Herman is down at UH trash talking our program and Morris has never done anything like that. Speaking for myself only, not sure I would want someone like Herman representing us. I think he's a great coach and was a good hire for Houston.

I have one. That we didn't fire JJ and hire CM four years ago.

Re: Regrets hiring Morris?
none whatsoever. Bottom line is that good players make coaches good. It might come as a shock to some, but recruiting high caliber players who have plenty of other options and convincing them to pick good ole SMU is no easy task. Chad and his staff are doing as well as anyone has in the post death penalty era. The question is whether positive momentum can be sustained and losses like Saturday's certainly don't help.
As for the question of SMU's commitment to winning...does anyone remember "The Commitment"? I don't recall the numbers, but years ago the administration came out with a statement it was committed to competing at the highest level as evidenced by what percentage of the athletics budget the school would carry vs relying on private donations. The real question is what percentage of not only the operating budget, but also the funding of facilities improvements is coming from the school vs relying on private donations (as compared to other schools who are competing at the G5 level)

HCCM is absolutely the right coach at this time. He is not only recruiting players but students, alumni, and the city of Dallas. Wins will come.

Be careful about which wine at this sale one samples. The Hill Top Brand has had some spectacular vintages in the past, but some fans of the label today complain it has a sour taste. I say open the bottle and let it breath for some time, and it will bloom. The vintner has a great reputation, so let him process and blend his harvest. Go buy a few case and lay it down for several years. You'll be happy with the results. Don't wine; buy an increasing and improving asset. Pony Up

It would be nice if he would just build us an IPF...but of course he would want us to pay for it!

He'll have to because RGT says we don't have a lead benefactor for this.

None. None regrets.
By the way, you do realize we still have three games left, all winnable, right?
