There it is again. The ole SMU trick of listing the exceptions.

Or call him a virtuoso.

Based on his rivals picture, he certainly LOOKS like a linebacker.

You got it Mickey-OK let's compromise-find me a RB who runs a 4.7(wink! wink!) but ALSO made the First Team Parade All-American Team and then I'll take him. Amandeus Waters has ZERO interest-there must be a reason and I'd quess slow and small are Reasons 1 and 2.

The point is, if you read this whole post, is that 40-yard dash times are not necessarily absolute indicators of success scorings TDs.

Seeing as how the NFL's top 3 TD producers of all time were considered realtively slow (Rice, Smith and Allen), I'd say that 40 times are a fairly poor indicator in fact.

Sure, all things being equal, I'd rather recruit a kid with 33 TD AND 4.3 speed.

Obviously this Waters kid is a power runner.[/i]

Don't we have a ton of RB's on the team. And Good ones???

Wait.... could this guy play Linebacker????

Exactly what I was thinking. He split time at offense and defense his Junior year, when he played saftey.

If he played saftey, that tells me that the 4.6 time probably isn't accurate.

If 4.6 is accurate, this guy could fit as a linebacker.

Stallion, given his 05 stats & his 5A All-State Hon Mention, it is interesting that he's not had more interest. As the story goes:

[1] He played offense & defense as a Jr (sounds like DeMyron);
[2] He transferred twice from/to Hays to/from SA Madison-- he may have fallen off radar (if you're not recruited as a Jr., that's easy to do).
[3] He scored 33 TD in 5A as a Sr (vs 8 as Jr), so he's late to the party.

That said, I still suspect it's GPA/SAT that's the issue-- not his '40'.

it could be an academic issue-and that's not just speculation-he himself said it didn't look like he would qualify but now it looks like he will. But all I'm saying is a 4.63 would put him behind at least about 30 Texas RB prospects who actually SIGN and in the lower 10% of all such RBs

Any new updates on Waters?
Finally saw a picture of the guy -- I like the linebacker idea.

Forty times are notoriously wrong. Chad Johnson ran a 4.5+ at NFL combine but is considered around the league as one of the fastest WR in the game.

Picture being a HS senior to be, you have trained for these two sprints your whole life. You know that if you run slow you have no chance of going to the top schools. You don't think a kid might feel a little pressure and tighten up/stumble slightly? We are talking about arguing about a tenth of a second, faster than it takes to drop a pen held from your waist to the ground. If the kid can score 33 times then he is worth looking at.

So removing that notion and the one about 5'10 being to small (please see Barry Sanders), then I think we have academic issues holding this kid back. I certainly don't want to write this kid off, but no point offering a kid that will never qualify, so lets nail that part down first.
