FrolingIt was only one game, but I did not see the athleticism I saw in all the videos for Froling. He seemed lost, which makes him a freshman....but I did not see anything to get a fan excited.

Re: FrolingKind of tough to get a sample with that offense. The post play was non existent. No inside passing. He has been touted as a passer and we didnt get to see that. He didnt get an open look at a shot
Re: FrolingOh and he looked bad on def. But I kind of expected that
Re: FrolingThere was a time about half way through the second half where he hesitated and passed up an open look from the top of the key. I thought that was the shot that should have broken the ice for him. I wish he would have taken it.

Re: FrolingIs he out of position to what he's used to playing? If his game is mostly as an outside in 4 like dirk, then Fro looking like dirk playing d as a 5 isn't too surprising
Re: Froling
I would say yes. He still has a ways to go to get into better shape IMHO.
Re: FrolingHe had one or two moments of raw power getting rebounds, but yeah in general very lost. Hopefully he learns fast and we give him some solid post play instruction. He's the only guy on the team that looks like a 5.

Re: Froling
Non existent. They play nine guys but only the starters contribute. They are long and athletic and can score but no real bigs. Froling will be like a rhinoceros at a kangaroo convention when we play them. Last edited by sadderbudweiser on Sat Nov 12, 2016 8:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: FrolingOne of the things I notice about a lot of freshmen big men is that unless they are in the top group, one of the hardest things that they have to deal with is getting used to the speed of the game. I have a feeling that it will take Froling a few games and he will get in the rhythm of the game. He isn't going to have the same stats as his sister, but I think as the season progresses, he is going to get more comfortable with his game.
Re: Frolingi don't think you are going to see much out of Froling this year frankly. he'll top out at about 8 pts and force some people to adjust their shots, and he will tie up the other guys big man. Thats about it until next year.
Hope he stays in Dallas to work on his post game and his fitness. I think he thinks of himself as Dirk, so it is going to take some time.
Re: Frolingsome of us remember a gangly 6'9" big guy who came to SMU and looked totally lost as a young FR but kept growing and turned out a pretty effective big (Jon Koncak) who did not have the skills Froling has. Will be fun to watch Froling's development as the season wears on and over the course of what hopefully will be a 4 year career at SMU.
Re: FrolingHe changed a lot of shots on defense with his size/presence
Re: FrolingHe is alot bigger than I thought.
The Aussie "Big Country." Would that make him Big Outback? Party at The Wopper!
Re: FrolingMan, tough crowd after one game. Fro and Tom both struggled at times last night but it was their first college game. If this was game 10, I'd be concerned. Both guys are talented, especially Fro. He has a nose for the ball on the boards and he can shoot as well as anyone on the team. Guys 6'11" with his shooting and passing ability don't grow on trees. Give him a little time, he's going to be a very good player for us.
