SMU Needs a Special Promotional Ticket Plan

Postby Stallion » Sat Nov 12, 2016 3:09 pm

with 2 home games against 2 strong team for a Bowl to end season-plenty of room on the Bandwaggon

November to Remember or something

on second thought Navy could fill that game up if its meaningful-

They better have some creative plans for next year, that's for sure.

This...Give away tickets to every kid and church group you can. Just try to get bodies there.

Literally distribute 100,000 general admission tickets to kids, south Dallas, west Dallas any outreach. Like the airlines oversell, hand em out until you have to turn someone away. Will never happen that's why you don't worry about inventory or control, just distribution.

Ticket prices aren't keeping people away.

Include cost of DART ride with free tickets. This team deserves more support than they currently have. Overflow crowd of kids playing on the grassy slope would be fun to see

we should have a pretty darn large Navy crowd since they will likely be playing for Division Championship-although if they beat ECU next week they clinch and Cargo can go watch UH go to the Weed-Eater Bowl

I wouldn't be surprised if 6,000-7,000 Navy fans show up

It's Thanksgiving weekend so you can forget about the students.

It would be fantastic if our AD came up with some sort of significant promotion for both games. That's being forward thinking....wonder if they are up to the task.

Free tickets and maybe something like $1 hotdogs and drinks in the 2nd half of both games would be a good start.

OK so students won't be there-that's going to cost us about 1,000 fans right there

Instead of making students wait in line for Basketball Ticket pick up at 6:00 in morning-why not just make them sit in line at a Football game-I'll bring donuts since Larry Brown bailed

Honestly we need to think of ways to get people from the local area and Dallas proper to the games. Even if we get 100% of students to show would only be like 6,500 undergrad. Let's face it, the liberal art majors could care less and the Greeks generally get too drunk to go. If you try to entice students with basketball tickets, they will find a way to game the system. All-in-all need to come up with some way, my thought was trying to make a scholarship program where if you sell x amount of tickets gets you x amount of dollars off tuition and try to get an army of door to door sales people.
